By doing this the cabinet stays small without sacrificing capability or quality of sound. Subwoofer is clean, but has a couple blemishes on the top as documented in the photos. It is a great sounding subwoofer for a small surround sound or stereo system to help fill out the bottom end of movie audio and music tracks. Still with the original box and documentation the only thing needed to get it set up with any system is a subwoofer cable. It still works perfectly fine, barely used.
