It fit in my $500 budget, had ton of digital inputs, balanced pre and balanced headphone outs, and I love the detailed presentation of the ESS 9038 Pro chip. So many reviews gave this unit the thumbs up I had to give it a try. So, I got one and really liked it. The sound is balanced being neither bright nor warm. Just neutral with a lot of detail. At the $500 price point I was very impressed. Used the unit for 9 months and then ran into some money. To replace this unit, I purchased a Chord Hugo TT2. Yes, the Chord Hugo TT2 blows the SMLS out of the water (it better for $6000). That being said, I still did not know if I wanted to part with my M500MKIII but finally it is time. Please note that this the MKIII which is notably better than the MKI or MKII. Condition is 9 out of 10. US shipping only.
