They are new and unused, just very old stock that was in hiding, and the boxes had been opened This is a great value for someone with at least modest fabrication skills. These are NOT for sound reinforcement levels, they are meant to provide background music in a room where no speaker grilles would be permitted. Sound emanates from the white foam core surface. You can see the two driver magnets in each speaker through the black fabric. The brackets shown will locate the speakers in a straightforward operation. Discard the cardboard part of setup mount. Speakers work best with backboxes, and, as I have done often, you can make those in place with thin chipboard, and construction adhesive. The factory ones were simple tabbed metal boxes, easy to install, but not as good in my opinion. These are designed to be flush to the drywall, an covered with a flexible surface and latexed over to be completely invisible. we put some in, and these are forgotten leftovers.
