The 101M incorporates two monaural amplifiers in a single unit, and is a complete twin monaural configuration, with the left and right channels independent from the AC power cord. This makes it possible to use only one channel and leave the other channel turned off, eliminating mutual interference and other harmful interference.The overall layout and wiring patterns are also designed to be perfectly symmetrical, with the micro-power section on the upper side and the high-power section on the lower side, and the signal flow from the front panel to the rear panel where the power transistors of the final stage are lined up. The power stage is a new concept including the power supply circuit to supply the full power with low distortion, and the Yamaha ZDR (Zero Distortion Circuit) is installed to achieve high output power and low distortion.The power transistors are in a flexible configuration with a total of 10 (20) Pc200W metal can-cased transistors per channel, based on 5 paras of ±70V operation, with 4 paras of ±120V added as needed. Therefore, while the power stage as a whole has a ±120V high-voltage operating capability, the individual power Trs do not need to be constantly operated, and the ±70V side 5 paras do not saturate, and the ±120V side 4 paras also do not need to be constantly operated.The power stage is equipped with ZDR (Zero Distortion Rule), which eliminates all distortion in the power stage. Crossover distortion common in the power stage, thermal distortion and distortion caused by speaker back EMFs peculiar to music signal amplification are also cancelled to achieve low distortion. The high-frequency detection protection turns off the speaker relay in the event of high-frequency large amplitude exceeding the 100 kHz full power range.In addition, a muting circuit is provided that turns off the speaker relay for 5 seconds after power-on and simultaneously activates the 70 Apeak inrush protection circuit.When these three protection circuits are activated, the protection LED lights and warns. A Pc limiter is provided to detect a continuous load short circuit according to the output current and voltage conditions and to protect the transistor by changing the operating curve of the Pc limiter when a load short circuit occurs.
