Up for auction is a Nakamichi CR-3 3 head stereo cassette deck. The deck is fully serviced and the following repairs have been done: - Cleaned the heads and pinch rollers. - Checked the heads under microscope, they are in excellent condition. - Adjusted the playback and record heads for correct height and azimuth. - De-carbonized the reel and cam motors. - Replaced the back tension and capstan belts, adjusted the motor speed, W&F is 0.045% to 0.055%. - Lubricated the transport mechanism. - Replaced the electrolytic caps using Nichicon Muse non polar and Wima caps in the audio circuit section, United (Nippon) Chemicon caps in the logic circuit and Nichicon FG/FW in the power supply sections. - Replaced the orange PP caps using Wima PP caps. - Increased the value of the +18V power supply filter cap from 11500uF to 13600uF, the +12V from 4700uF to 6800uF and -18V from 470uF to 1000uF. - Increased the value of the four Dolby power supply filter caps from 220uF to 470uF each. - Increased the value of the record amp power supply filter caps from 47uF to 220uF. - Added in parallel with the 10uF electrolytic caps in the audio path 0.47uF Wima film caps. - Cleaned the potentiometers using deoxit D5. - Adjusted the electronics for correct levels and bias using TDK D/SA/MA-X tapes. All the functions are operating as they should be, playback, record, ff, rew, pause, counter, timer, dolby b & c, bias fine, auto repeat. The sound and the stereo image are great, the bass is tight, the vocals are very defined, the high frequencies are crystal clear, both in playback and recording modes. The cassette mechanism runs smoothly. Externally the deck is in very good condition, considering the age. This is a 120V model, S/N 13146, production date 1988. With the deck are included the old parts. All the questions are very welcome. I moved recently in US from Greece, where I was working in Greek Nakamichi service during 90s and I have all the necessary professional equipment (original test tapes, oscilloscope, wow & flutter meter, distortion meter, frequency response meter, CR-7 test unit, 1000ZXL test unit). This auction is for a Nakamichi CR-3A cassette deck (A13205570) with the original box. The play, rewind, forward, pause, and sound functions were tested and work correctly. The system remote function and record functions were not tested and may not work. The belt was professionally replaced in 2017. The cabinet has sticker residue on the top, a sticker on the back, and a some small white scratches. The box has addresses written on it. There are some creases and tears in the box. One part of the internal Styrofoam is cracked. This will be double boxed. Please look at the pictures. Shipping is listed above.

The fast forward and rewind buttons worked, but since the general play button doesnt work, was also hard to test many of the other main features. Again, this is being sold AS-IS and FOR PARTS / REPAIR and is not in working condition. The volume knob has a nick on it and is also a little crooked/off-center. The cap is also a little loose and can easily be pulled off so this should ideally be replaced.  The display lights up and works fine when plugged in. Its physical condition is fair/good. Has some scratches on the top and shows general usage. The top left and right edges of the front face are also scuffed and some of the paint peeled has peeled off.
