Vintage 1980s Counterpoint SA-12 dual channel Tube/MosFET high end Power Amplifier, 80 WPCThis is a classic high end power amplifier designed by Michael Elliott. Set up properly and broken in this sounds pretty magical. Very smooth and tube like while detailed and with great soundstage and imaging. Image depth and instrument separation is sometimes jaw dropping. YMMV, but if this had a bit more power for my very power hungry magnepans I would never sell it. This has been almost completely Recapped except the four main filter caps which tested fine and the Wondercaps which measured perfect. Even the small low voltage section and large high voltage section WIMAs were replaced with higher rated, higher performance caps. Both protection relays were replaced, bridge rectifiers replaced, and all mainboard filter caps were replaced. Bias and DC offset were set.
