Hi, up for sale is a pair of Vintage Apogee Acoustics Centaur Minor Ribbon Hybrid Floor Speakers Made In USA. These two vintage rare 1990s audiophile speakers are in very nice cosmetic and great working condition. There are only a couple of small light blemishes on the cabinet exteriors. These highly reviewed speakers feature a 26 etched ribbon tweeter and a 6 1/2 dynamic cone woofer bass. Size is 100cm height x 35cm width x 22cm depth, each speaker weighs 52 pounds. The speakers are in working condition and sound amazing but have some cosmetic issues. One has some swelling from water on the very bottom and there is some peeling laminate for instance - see pictures for details. Amazing deal for such legendary high resolution speakers with a long Apogee tweeter that many consider to be the best tweeter ever made. One woofer had the rubber surround separating from the cone and I repaired that with speaker repair glue that I had from a previous speaker repair. They are both operating well and as mentioned sound amazing. While these speakers will benefit from quality electronics, they are not difficult to drive compared to the all ribbon Apogee speakers so they can pair well with a variety of equipment from receivers to quality separates. I am not a technician so I cant tell you if they are operating to speck but to me they sound quite amazing - the clarity of the ribbon is phenomenal. At this price, they are great as is if you dont mind the cosmetic issues or can be the starting point of a great project - I have heard some people upgrade the woofer for even better performance. This was owned by a friend who bought it but never used it, so it has never been exposed to weather. Here is the full description from the Centaur web site: The Centaur Yagi Baluns are specifically designed to mount on a Yagi antenna boom. Be sure to mount the Balun on the TOP side of the antenna boom with the baluns stainless steel dowel pins positioned directly upward. This will ensure that the condensation drain holes on the opposite side of the balun will be at the lowest point for proper drainage of water. Centaur Yagi Baluns come equipped with two stainless steel band clamps and two mounting pads to attach the balun.
