Once you have had the PM-100, you will wonder how you managed with less power. Because any less power, regularly submits your ears to audible distortion called clipping. At moderate levels, you may not think you notice it. But that’s because underpowered TV’s, car radios, portable sound sources and virtually all low powered hi-fi components have made us accustomed to the haze of minute distortions which occur thousands of times per minute. The PM-100 has the reserves of power necessary to allow your speakers to complete each musical waveform … instead of snapping it off. The resulting clarity can restore a surprising amount of impact and detail to your existing records – played over your existing speakers with no further modifications. Yet it is with the emergence of digital recording and playback technology that the PM-100 stops being a luxury and turns into an absolutely necessary. When you first hear a CD, your ideas of “loudness” and “softness” are completely overturned. Digital holds surprises with every passage, ranging from utter silence to exploding power that taxes your whole hi-fi signal chain, causing clipping distortion that isn’t subtle anymore, the kind of clipping which can actually damage speakers. The simple answer is to add the PM-100 with its remarkable amplifier and its speaker protection circuitry. This Magnetic Power Amplifier has the ability to deliver the power needed for the digital in a cool-running package a THIRD the size of traditional amplifier designs. Its sophisticated amplifier and speaker protection circuits monitor conditions that could damage your equipment, shutting the PM-100 before the problems occur. Voice coil overheating, long term clipping, catastrophic short circuit and even excessive DC voltages are the problems which the PM-100 is designed to automatically circumvent. The result is the freedom of truly enjoy Compact Discs or any other music source at realistically listening levels. If you’re interested in upgrading your system with a minimum outlay of money and maximum immediately audible sound improvement, visit your Carver dealer soon. You’ll discover that even a ‘small’ Carver amplifier can make a large increase in your listening enjoyment. id=aswift_0 name=aswift_0 style=left: 0px; position: absolute; top: 0px; border-width: 0px; border-style: initial; width: 970px; height: 90px; sandbox=allow-forms allow-popups allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox allow-same-origin allow-scripts allow-top-navigation-by-user-activation marginwidth=0 marginheight=0 vspace=0 hspace=0 allowtransparency=true scrolling=no src=https://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/pagead/ads?client=ca-pub-3664363573068202&output=html&h=90&slotname=4160556033&adk=3969693493&adf=4043513882&pi=t.ma~as.4160556033&w=970&lmt=1688238713&bpp=1&bdt=893&idt=125&shv=r20230627&mjsv=m202306210101&ptt=9&saldr=aa&abxe=1&correlator=2468501754831&frm=20&pv=2&ga_vid=1023609132.1688088239&ga_sid=1688088239&ga_hid=868796116&ga_fc=0&u_tz=-240&u_hi720&u_w=1280&u_ah=680&u_aw=1280&u_cd=24&u_sd=1.5&adx=146&ady=318&biw=1263&bih=567&scr_x=0&scr_y=0&eid=44759837%2C44759876%2C44759927%2C42532277%2C42532279%2C31075572%2C44788442&oid=2&pvsid=3502081406795428&tmod=2042639123&nvt=1&ref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F&fc=896&brdim=-7%2C-7%2C-7%2C-7%2C1280%2C0%2C1295%2C695%2C1280%2C567&vis=1&rsz=%7C%7CeE%7C&abl=CS&pfx=0&fu=256&bc=31&ifi=1&uci=a!1&fsb=1&xpc=MEv5B31oeu&p=https%3A//vinylengine.com&dtd=205 data-google-container-id=a!1 data-google-query-id=CKnt197q6f8CFSSo0QQdI-gJCw data-load-complete=true width=970 height=90 frameborder=0> Adamo0926 long player Posts: 1003Joined: 26 Feb 2011 03:22 Location: Connecticut Carver M-200T amplifier SAME AS PM100-PM 300 GREAT AMP! Post by Adamo0926 » 10 Apr 2022 16:02 Went to a friends last night for a night of listening, comparing audio components etc. He has a lot of equipment that he got free from an estate. Some really nice stuff that he cleared out of a condo because it was just going to be tossed as no one was claiming it. McIntosh, Kenwood, Pioneer, Carver, etc. One piece was this Carver PM-100 amp (120 wpc). We did not hook that up last night but he gave it to me to check out and either sell or keep. So if I keep it the price is great.....F R E E.....lol. I just hooked it up to my Hafler DH-110 preamp and my Thiel CS2 speakers along with the Dayton Audio sub. Never had any experience with Carver amps before, but this thing sounds pretty damn good. How did they pack 120 wpc into such a small box. The thing is literally smaller than the Hafler preamp. Anyone else have experience with this amp, and what did/do you think ?
