This unit is in nice pre owned condition. I acquired this from a local estate, and I am uncertain about it’s service history. It looks to be well taken care of- there are a few minor paint chips and scuffs, but it presents well- I took pictures of any cosmetic issues I could find. I tested this unit to the best of my ability, and believe that it is in good order. It plays/records nice, and runs quietly. The level sliders are smooth. The buttons and knobs are all responsive. The pitch control is a nice feature. The taper counter works well. This unit will be carefully padded and boxed for safe shipment. Please see pictures for details. Thanks!

This has been sitting for awhile without being played....I recently hooked it up and popped a cassette in and it started to eat the tape. FF seemed to work and Rev would engage and shut off after a few seconds of spinning. The next day I popped a tape in and it played great for hours. Today I tried it again and it ate the tape. Selling as an eating machine of tapes. For parts or repair...I did order a rubber kit which include a new tire, a large belt and small belt...I installed the small belt. I will include the other 2 parts in the sale. I ship fast....my wife threw away the original box....dont ask why....thanks for looking.

Up for auction is a high serial number Nakamichi BX-300 3 head stereo cassette deck. The deck is fully serviced and the following repairs have been done: - Cleaned the heads and pinch rollers. - Checked the heads under microscope, they are in excellent condition. - Adjusted the playback and record heads for correct height and azimuth. - De-carbonized the reel and cam motors. - Replaced the back tension belt and cleaned the capstan belt, checked the motor speed, W&F is 0.025% to 0.030%. - Upgraded the idler tire to gear idler. - Lubricated the transport mechanism. - Installed an illuminated backplate cover into the cassette compartment (took it from a DR-3). - Replaced the electrolytic caps using Elna Silmic II in the audio circuit section, United (Nippon) Chemicon caps in the logic circuit and Nichicon FG/FW in the power supply sections. - Replaced the orange PP caps using Wima PP caps. - Increased the value of the +12V power supply filter cap from 4700uF to 6800uF and -12V from 470uF to 1000uF. - Increased the value of the eight Dolby power supply filter caps from 100uF to 470uF each. - Increased the value of the playback amp power supply filter cap from 100uF to 470uF. - Increased the value of the record amp power supply filter caps from 10uF to 100uF. - Upgraded the 1uF electrolytic caps in the audio path using Wima film caps and added in parallel with the 10uF electrolytic caps 0.47uF Wima film caps. - Cleaned the potentiometers using deoxit D5. - Replaced the bad bias fine potentiometer. - Adjusted the electronics for correct levels and bias using TDK D/SA/MA-X tapes. All the functions are operating as they should be, playback, record, ff, rew, pause, counter, timer, dolby b & c, pitch control, bias fine, auto repeat. The sound and the stereo image are great, the bass is tight, the vocals are very defined, the high frequencies are crystal clear, both in playback and recording modes. The cassette mechanism runs smoothly. Externally the deck is in almost excellent condition. This is a 120V model, S/N 53480, production date 1987. With the deck are included the old parts and the original owners manual. All the questions are very welcome. I moved recently in US from Greece, where I was working in Greek Nakamichi service during 90s and I have all the necessary professional equipment (original test tapes, oscilloscope, wow & flutter meter, distortion meter, frequency response meter, CR-7 test unit, 1000ZXL test unit).
