The Bryston USB Converter provides a high resolution, ultra low jitter digital audio signal interface between your computer (Laptop, Desktop, Notebook etc.) utilizing a single, USB cable. The Bryston BUC-1 Converter allows for native 24 bit resolution at sampling rates up to 192 kHz. The Bryston USB Converter is built upon low phase noise clocks inside the Bryston USB Converter to run as the master audio clock, resulting in extraordinarily low jitter output. Digital Outputs include AES/EBU, BNC and COAX. High quality output transformers isolated the output signal from any computer noise. The goal of any quality USB converter is to convey the exact bits in the audio signal, with the least amount of ‘jitter’ possible. Most USB Converter devices are capable of delivering the correct bits. However, the timing is a different matter. Timing errors in the signal can come from a number of different sources: noisy power supplies or clocks, timing errors already present on the audio signal being encoded, and noise in the transmission line, just to name a few.Most crucially, the Bryston USB Converter controls the master timing of the audio system. So, rather than the computer (Laptop) running the master clock, and the audio device slaving to this, the main system clock is in the Bryston USB Converter, and the rest of the system slaves to it. The last feature, which is frequently referred to by the technical name asynchronous (as opposed to isochronous), is the key to obtaining ultra-low jitter on USB devices. With asynchronous USB receivers, the jitter is essentially limited only by the clocks on the audio device, plus any [typically very small] timing errors from additional logic gates that the clock signal must travel through.Critical to any high-end audio design is the power supply. Most USB type adapters are powered through the USB bus connection in the computer (Laptop). The power coming from the computer is supplied at 5 volts, although is typically not terribly clean, due to noise in the computer and other attached peripherals, such as hard drives. In the Bryston USB Converter we employ a proprietary high quality Bryston power supply with ultralow noise linear power regulation, clean power rails for the internal circuitry. In order to supply clean power to the on-board circuitry, the Bryston uses a combination of power supply filtering and an newly released power down regulator. Power coming into the device is first PI filtered (CLC), which gives a two-pole attenuation for noise above roughly 3kHz. This works to eliminate high frequency noise, which down-regulators are typically not as good at rejecting. I am the original purchaser of this amp. I bought three of this model for a home theater setup. I no longer use that setup. I am keeping two for a stereo system. I have been an Electronic Technician for more than 50 years and I believe that I know when a piece of equipment is PERFECT. It is rated at 250 watts per channel. When in the MONO mode it puts out over 900 RMS watts. It comes with the original 14 gauge 15 amp line cord. Cord is 6.5 feet long. It has 12 volt output when amp is on for control of other components that utilize 12 volts. There are several time periods you can set it to. This is just to prevent all of your equipment trying to turn on at once. There are two separate power supplies utilizing massive heavy toroidal power transformers. I installed these in a cool ventilated area. They never gave any problems whatsoever. No repairs were ever done or needed. There is no hum. This amp when running for hours only gets moderately warm. Moderately meaning nothing even remotely close to uncomfortable. To be exact, I measured the heatsink temperature after 3 hours of moderate to loud music and they were both 105 degrees Fahrenheit. Bias idle current has been measured and are within normal specifications. For years my stereo system ran on two bi-amped McIntosh MC2100 amps at 105 watts RMS per channel. I have retired the McIntosh amps and, as mentioned, am using two of the three I purchased back when. I randomly picked 2 of the 3 for my own use and took photos of the third as shown herein. I was able to locate spec sheets for the two I am using totally by happenstance. The AWESOME specs are very similar as you can see. I feel confident that this one also has similar specs. I think it is very interesting to see that although the rating is 250 RMS watts per channel the the actual outputs are 288, 291, 293 and 290. LOTS of headroom there for sure and demonstrates the Bryston design ethic. The singular fact that I dumped McIntosh amps for this model Bryston after using the McIntosh amps for over 50 years is quite a testament on how SUPER this amp performs. I firmly believe that the condition of this amp at a 9.5 and its history validates the price I have it listed for. I am selling this item on an AS IS basis. I do not a accept returns. I do not issue refunds. If these terms concern you please review some of the many extremely positive comments in my received feedback. I DO cooperate 100% in the event of damage in transit. I have never had any damage with U-Ship. They are always courteous and safety concerned. PACKAGING METHOD: Due to the high value of this amplifier and the inclination of the shipping companies to destroy things often, I have GONE OVERBOARD to protect this Bryston. The entire amp is totally 100% surrounded by heavy duty closed cell thick foam. After that it is wrapped with clear cling wrap then put into a new carton and sealed. THEN that carton is placed inside a second outer new heavy duty carton and sealed. Each step of packaging was photographed to demonstrate, if need be, the extra care given this item. In my opinion I have it protected substantially better than the original factory packaging method. If you want to have me send you photos of the unit being packaged just ask and I will send them to you. I removed two McIntosh MC2100 105 wpc amps that I was using in my own stereo system. replaced them with two of these Bryston 4B amps at 250 per channel. What an AWESOME BLOW YOUR SOCKS DIFFERENCE. Using them in a home theater for the past many years I obviously did not know what they were capable of in a stereo system. All I can say it what an INCREDIBLE difference!! I dont know if it is the fact that the dampening is SO much higher in these Brystons or just the fact that my power has increased dramatically. For whatever reason, these are KEEPERS now. The best way I can describe the sound now, especially the BASS is AUTHORITATIVE AND GUTSY. Just my personal commentary.

The Bryston USB Converter provides a high resolution, ultra low jitter digital audio signal interface between your computer (Laptop, Desktop, Notebook etc.) utilizing a single, USB cable. The Bryston BUC-1 Converter allows for native 24 bit resolution at sampling rates up to 192 kHz. The Bryston USB Converter is built upon low phase noise clocks inside the Bryston USB Converter to run as the master audio clock, resulting in extraordinarily low jitter output. Digital Outputs include AES/EBU, BNC and COAX. High quality output transformers isolated the output signal from any computer noise. The goal of any quality USB converter is to convey the exact bits in the audio signal, with the least amount of ‘jitter’ possible. Most USB Converter devices are capable of delivering the correct bits. However, the timing is a different matter. Timing errors in the signal can come from a number of different sources: noisy power supplies or clocks, timing errors already present on the audio signal being encoded, and noise in the transmission line, just to name a few.Most crucially, the Bryston USB Converter controls the master timing of the audio system. So, rather than the computer (Laptop) running the master clock, and the audio device slaving to this, the main system clock is in the Bryston USB Converter, and the rest of the system slaves to it. The last feature, which is frequently referred to by the technical name asynchronous (as opposed to isochronous), is the key to obtaining ultra-low jitter on USB devices. With asynchronous USB receivers, the jitter is essentially limited only by the clocks on the audio device, plus any [typically very small] timing errors from additional logic gates that the clock signal must travel through.Critical to any high-end audio design is the power supply. Most USB type adapters are powered through the USB bus connection in the computer (Laptop). The power coming from the computer is supplied at 5 volts, although is typically not terribly clean, due to noise in the computer and other attached peripherals, such as hard drives. In the Bryston USB Converter we employ a proprietary high quality Bryston power supply with ultralow noise linear power regulation, clean power rails for the internal circuitry. In order to supply clean power to the on-board circuitry, the Bryston uses a combination of power supply filtering and an newly released power down regulator. Power coming into the device is first PI filtered (CLC), which gives a two-pole attenuation for noise above roughly 3kHz. This works to eliminate high frequency noise, which down-regulators are typically not as good at rejecting.
