The Sonics 800X is almost identical to a Bryston 7B - they were basically rebadged with Sonics front/back plates with slightly modified circuitry for their use with IMAX systems. Unit come with new 6x30mm 150V fast-blow fuses: The 800X is set up as a monoblock amp, (two mono channels within set up in push-pull configuration) and there are no switches to change from series or parallel. Inside are two identical power amplifiers set for bridge operation for 500 watts into 8 ohms or 800 watts into 4 ohms. Conversion to 2-channel stereo operation is possible by disabling the input module internally. This Bryston 7b lived in our audio room before we closed the doors for good. Never had an issue and it functions flawlessly. It has lived it’s whole life in a studio equipment room rack, and had regular maintenance done by our house engineers. On a side note here, I do not store it on top of my Marshall amp, that was just the best spot to grab a few pics amidst the mess in our basement (our basement is being remodeled so it’s very out of sorts!!)
