WHY AM I ASKING FOR THIS AMOUNT? PLEASE READ MY ENTIRE DESCRIPTION, AS IT SHOULD EXPLAIN EVERYTHING AND ENLIGHTEN YOU ABOUT BOSE WAVE CHANGERS. This unit is elegant, timeless, and simplistic it can be fully controlled without a remote control, as all of the controls are located on the top side of the unit. Compare that to the new inferior models that have no buttons and must be controlled by a Wave radio and or remote. What engineer genius thought of that? The new models are prone to CD jams and malfunction error readings, not this old-school workhorse However, please understand the laser assembly in these old-school units (specifically the laser diode) is one of the most significant parts in the entire changer and near impossible to come by, in fact, I would say impossible as they are no longer manufactured, so unless the seller still has a surplus of new laser assemblies as I do from rebuilding/remanufacturing these radios from back in the days than it is just futile. I have been rebuilding Wave radios and CD changers for about 25 years now. The laser diode is basically the engine of the CD player or changer, as more miles are placed on an automotive engine, the engine will weaken due to wear on the piston rings, cam bearings, crank bearings, valve seals, and so on, causing blow by and extensive oil burning in the combustion chamber of the engine. The laser diode is the same, the more a CD is listened to the more wear and deterioration is done to the diode. It is inevitable putting miles on a car will wear the engine among other parts, and listening to your CD player will wear the laser diode. At new, the Bose laser diode should last between 20 to 25 years. Of course that is dependent on the hours played listening to the CD player, so buying a CD changer from someone else could just be like gambling or buying a car with a broken odometer. If you have a Porsche, a Ferrari, a Lamborghini, or a Rolls Royce you dont go to the local mechanic that works on everything. Thats not to say that they might not be able to fix your issue, no you would want to go to a person who specializes in that particular brand. In this case, check and see my other listings I specialize only in Bose products, That is what I do. The laser optic in this unit is as fast as brand new, it literally plays instantly when skipping from song to song NO endless tracking and waiting. That is one quick way to find out if your laser diode has weakened and or is on its last leg without taking it apart and testing wavelength strength, going from song to song. a strong laser diode should even read a scratched CD to a point. WHAT YOU WILL GAIN IS PEACE OF MIND WITH A LIKE BRAND NEW UNIT... Ask other sellers if they spend 4 hours cleaning, calibrating, and testing their Bose Wave changers before listing each and every one... Ask other sellers if the CD changer lens was cleaned and realigned and also if the leadscrew shaft, gears and sliders were cleaned and had fresh lithium applied... There is no dust or debris anywhere on or in the unit, its MINT. Fully cleaned outside and inside (internally). Why is it important to have been cleaned internally? This is because dust can cause components to prematurely overheat and shorten their life expectancy. Dust can also cause electrostatic damage because of its hydrophilic nature can form a conductive electrolyte film that can compromise the surface insulation resistance between conductors (components). All of my Bose CD changers go through vigorous cleaning, lens realignment, calibrating, lubricating, and testing. All this is completed while following ESD protocol. INSPECTING, CLEANING, REPAIRING/REPLACING, CALIBRATING & TESTING: The touch control rubber buttons on the changer have grooves in between them that are meticulously cleaned and inspected for tears or extensive wear including script wear. The plastic housing shell is inspected for cracks or damages and is replaced if needed. The simulated grills are cleaned from dirt and grime. Optics are inspected (checked for strength) lens is cleaned and realigned. The optic assembly is replaced and a new one is installed if the laser diode is found to be weak.
