The EQ570 is a solid well built four band EQ. With extremely low phase shift, and gradual curve filters that make it one of the most musical sounding EQ’s we have ever built. We have been building EQ’s in the USA since 1989. We have released many different models, from dual 31 band graphic’s to four band parametric’s we have built them all at one time or another. We put all of our experience into building one of the best sounding EQ’s we have ever built. Not all records sound great, some of the “new” recordings lack dynamic range and seem overly compressed. Why suffer from glaring treble or poor bass response due to a bad recording? It’s silly to suffer through bad recordings for the sake of “purity.” There’s no reason EQ controls can’t be implemented and used in ways that result in a net sonic improvement, and of course they can always be bypassed when a great recording is being played. This Bellari uses an older circuit, it avoids some of the sonic limitations of many classic tube designs. In particular, it has better detail and transient speed. While the older preamps can sound really lush, they can also homogenize music— blunting the leading edges of transients and imparting a syrupy coloration. With later, edgy-sounding classical recordings this old-school tube lushness can be a good thing, but it can also make listening less exciting. By contrast, the Bellari not only makes these records more listenable, but also preserves a lot of the excitement of the performances. With 30dB of gain, the Bellari is designed for moving-magnet cartridges. With a single 12AX7A tube in the output stage, the Bellari enables “tube rollers” to tailor the sound according to personal tastes (within limits). It also includes a rumble filter to eliminate low-frequency “nasties” that can make your woofers (or subwoofers) go wild. In addition, it can do double-duty as a headphone amplifier, offering both adjustable gain and a mute switch that cuts off the signal to the RCA jacks but not to the headphone jack. This has been in my system for 10 years. Ive done some rediculous tube rolling even popping a $400 Telefunken 12AX7 input tube in for a month or two since remove and replaced with a decent 12AX7 input tube in the phono amp saving the prized Telefunken for my preamp. Our home is smoke free, temperature and humidity controled. Oh, I mounted some 3M non-resonate substrait on the bottom of this as an experiement to further dampen harmonics in the hardware and valve. Dont ask my if it improved the sound. 3M gave it to me for free to try it in an audiophile application.
