BANG & OLUFSEN B&O BEOCENTER 8500 VERY GOOD CONDITION Click images to enlarge Description BANG & OLUFSEN B&O BEOCENTER 8500   VERY NICE CONDITION   FULLY TESTED AND WORKING GREAT  REAR FLAP HAD BROKEN SO THIS HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH A 9300 ONE   ALL GLASS PANELS HAVE BEEN RESTUCK INCLUDED IS A FREE IPOD LEAD SO YOU CAN CONNECT THE LATEST DEVICES AND BRING THIS RIGHT UP TO DATE.   WOULD LOOK SUPERB IN ANY HOME MAKING A GREAT FOCAL POINT. THE FOLLOWING IS COURTESY OF WWW.BEOWORLD.ORG Manfactured: 1989 - 1992 Designer: Jacob Jensen Colours: Grey Beocenter 8500 / 9500 Types 2506, 2508, 2509, 2510 The mirrored exterior of aluminium and smoked glass gave no hint of the power hidden beneath the surface of  Beocenter 9500. Central to the concept was the AM/FM receiver. On the flanks, CD player and cassette recorder awaited their turn in the spotlight. When they were needed, a light touch on the display panel was all that was required to make lids glide to the side giving immediate access to disc or cassette. The Beocenter was designed by Jacob Jensen and was the direct descendant of Beocenter 9000. The two models features here were superceded in 1994 by Beocenter 9300. Simple logical operation A light touch directly on Beocenter 9500 was all you needed to access its operation. The illuminated display led you logically through the programming and other functions always showing you what to do next. This ease and simplicity of use was the first impression you obtained of the music system. And equally easy to use was the optional remote control Beolink 1000 terminal. Entertainment and information from three reliable sources You could preset up to 20 FM and AM stations on the  Beocenter 9500 receiver. And when you made your choice, search and fine tuning were completely automatic. Also, you could preset the receiver to switch on automatically to catch the news, or perhaps a favourite serial at just the right time. If you were out, the cassette recorder could be programmed to record and you could play back at your leisure. You could also use the Beocenter 9500 receiver as a guaranteed alarm. In the event of a power failure during the night, the clock instantly switched to its own built-in batteries to ensure that you awoke at just the right time. The CD player which accommodated both 12cm and 8cm compact discs was also ready for your commands. It gave you instant access to a specific track anywhere on the disc and allowed you to change the order in which the tracks were played, or to simply choose only those tracks you wished to listen to. Technology at its most convenient best. When used with Beogram 9500 the music system was known as Beosystem 9500. The fine art of control of Beocenter 8500 & 9500 The unfailing sensi-touch control of the Beocenter 9500 works through a condenser effect. A graphite area is printed on the underside of the glass panel, and charged with a high frequency current. Even the lightest touch of a finger will spark the reaction. Beocenter 8500 For individuals who could live without time-programming but wanted the advanced features of the Beocenter 9500, Bang & Olufsen created the Beocenter 8500. There was no difference in the quality of the sound, but the cabinet was finished in a soft grey as an alternative to the polished aluminium finish of Beocenter 9500. With both Beocenter 8500 and 9500, a dedicated record player -Beogram 9500 - was available. This unique system employed a cross-shaped armature which, among other advantages, guaranteed exceptional stereo separation since each channel moves on a separate axis. The job of any pickup cartridge is to transform the records physical profile (groove modulation) into corresponding electrical signals (which are then amplified or enlarged by the amplifier and turned into audible sound waves by the loudspeaker. A cartridge must perform three separate and exacting tasks if it is to do this job successfully. It must function mechanically (the movements of the stylus in the groove); it must function magnetically (using the physical movements to create changes in a magnetic field); and it must function electrically (using the changes in magnetic flux to generate an electrical current). At each stage, one type of energy is transferred into another, quite different, type. And the transfer must be perfect, with no energy lost and none added from extraneous sources. No cartridge will ever reach this ideal unless the Laws of Physics can be repealed. However, by understanding the relationships between the three transfer stages and continually applying refined engineering techniques, B&Os belief was that each stage of cartridge improvement would bring each successive cartridge closer to the ideal. Record wear and the cartridgeIf you take music seriously the value of your record collection is likely to be high. Many of your records are likely to be irreplaceable. You will also know that the signals pressed into your vinyl discs are very fragile indeed. The pickup cartridge can be the discs worse enemy since an ill-suited cartridge can mark a record for life in a single play. While B&O is aware that cartridge specifications are inter-related, their research shows consistently that Effective Tip Mass (ETM) is one of the major factors affecting record wear. ETM is the equivalent of the amount of inertia the groove sees in moving or accelerating the stylus tip. Consequently, the higher the ETM value, the higher the force required for a given constant acceleration. Obviously, more force results in more wear. Three elements contribute to ETM. The stylus tip (diamond) contributes with its entire weight and mass. The armature contributes between 5 - 20% of its weight and mass; the cantilever around 30%. B&O has been able to reduce ETM substantially by refining these elements and building them into an integrated unit. The result is a system which not only reduces damage to the groove walls dramatically, but also provides exceptional performance at all frequencies.

This unique system employed a cross-shaped armature which, among other advantages, guaranteed exceptional stereo separation since each channel moves on a separate axis. The job of any pickup cartridge is to transform the records physical profile (groove modulation) into corresponding electrical signals (which are then amplified or enlarged by the amplifier and turned into audible sound waves by the loudspeaker.A cartridge must perform three separate and exacting tasks if it is to do this job successfully. Obviously, more force results in more wear.Three elements contribute to ETM. Any questions just get in touch, Id be glad to help.

Fully serviced Bang & Olufsen Beogram 8500 with MMC4 type 5971. One of the last ever turntables produced by Bang and Olufsen Fully serviced with new belts sourced from Beoparts to match same tension as the original specification. Replaced platter belt BS003 Replaced carriage servo belt ref BS023 Regreased carriage servo mechanism. Fully cleaned internally. Cosmetically it is in excellent condition there is barely a mark on it. Barely a mark on it and the matt grey panel looks excellent. The smoke grey translucent dust cover has some minor marks on but these can be polished out. Timeless design by Jacob Jensen. The sound from this turntable is amazing. This was one of the last turntables produced by Bang and Olufsen. The turntable automatically detects the size ofthe record and starts at the correct speed with the 33 or 45 rpm speed lighting up on the tangential arm. The speed can be changed for 12” singles. This turntable is complemented by the Beocenter 8500 not included but will available as a separate listing soon. Please note that within mainland UK I would prefer to arrange delivery myself. The postage costs listed are for someone to drop the item off / meet you somewhere to collect the unit and not for a courier. The postage will help cover fuel costs and can be reviewed with the buyer depending on their location. I am happy to travel 1 or 2 hours to drop it off at a time and date convenient to me which may not be immediately after the sale. I will consider dropping it off at locations further away than 2 hours but may ask the buyer to meet me halfway that way I can cover most of mainland UK. I do travel to the midlands and the south approximately every 2 to 4 weeks. If you are expecting the item within a couple of days of buying then please contact me in advance of purchase to make suitable arrangements. If you are serious about buying the item I am sure we can agree something.
