Up for sale is a pair of B&W 802 Series 80 speakers with the Fibercrete heads. These are sequential serial number 10547 and 10548 which I believe puts them pretty far near the end of the original Series 80 run. Im selling them due to the size, they cant fit in my usual listening room. These are in excellent cosmetic condition, the cabinets were near perfect so I replaced all of the grill cloth with new cloth sourced from Simply Speakers in their dark chocolate color. The original cloths were faded and threadbare on some of the corners. I also straightened the metal frames under the cloth on the top of the speakers, ensuring it was all flat and level. These 801s are also equipped with the casters on the bottom, making them easy to reposition. There are 2-3 small scuffs that I took closeups of on the speakers, however they are not scratches as I cant catch any edge with my fingernail. It may be easy to fix them, but I didnt want to risk damaging the lovely veneer. One area of oddity is the manufacturing plate on the back of one of the speakers was out of place, figuring someone had attempted to refinish them at one point I removed the plate to put it in the correct spot. I then saw that the plate had been there for many years, likely originally placed in the incorrect area. You can see the veneer where it was is darker in color as the veneer lightened over the years due to exposure to light. I have not firmly affixed the plate in any location, Id like to give the future owner the option to put it where it was, over the dark area, or where it should be over the connections. Sonically I dont hear any issues, I dont have a reference point to go off of as they are the only 801s Ive heard. But there is no rattling from the speakers or audible rubbing from the voicecoils. Also due to the shape the speakers were in, I dont believe that the crossovers have ever been worked on as it doesnt look like the drivers had ever been removed. For your consideration today is a used pair of Bowers and Wilkins Nautilus 801 N801 speakers. These speakers work 100% all drivers are good and working and crossovers are good and working as well. When I purchased these the tweeters were completely destroyed on each one. The tweeter housings were good and present so I ordered new B&W tweeter driver units as well as new screens and retainers for the screens for both. I used only genuine B&W parts and no aftermarket parts. The cabinets because of rough handling before I purchased them have suffered some. I have tried to picture the blemishes in the cabinets but they are very hard to picture. These speakers sound amazing but I dont have the proper equipment to run them to their full potential and I really dont have room for them either. You can hear them play with my equipment hooked up to them but a proper audition of them is really not possible. I know that cosmetic condition is really important to alot of audiophiles and these are not 100% on cosmetics so I feel that I have them priced accordingly with their condition. If the Bowers and Wilkins sound is what you are after you have come to the right place! I also have the matching Nautilus HTM1 NHTM1 center channel as well these available in another listing if you are interested in it. I might be willing to ship it but would rather it be picked up as well. I will not ship these due to their size and weight so please do not ask. They are located in Hindsville Arkansas 72738 if you want to map to see how far it would be to pick them up. These weigh 230 pounds each speaker and are very hard to move so please bring good help to load.
