Einsatzzweck: Der EQ-One dient einer Vielzahl von Funktionen, hauptsächlich aber dazu, die Einflüsse des Hörraumes auszugleichen, die durch die Einrichtung und Aufstellung der Lautsprecher bestimmt werden. Da jeder Raum seine spezifische Akustik hat, können in einem Vorführraum getestete Lautsprecher in ihrem oder einem anderen Hörraum anders klingen. Die individuelle Frequenzkurve der Lautsprecherboxen hängt also in hohem Maße von der Beschaffenheit des Hörraums ab. Da dieser nicht oder nur schwer auf die Erfordernisse der Lautsprecher abgestimmt werden kann, besteht die wichtigste Aufgabe des EQ-One darin, für jeden Stereokanal getrennt einen flachen Frequenzgang herzustellen, der als Korrektur des bestehenden, unkorrigierten Frequenzganges zu verstehen ist und die Einflüsse, wie z. B. Frequenzeinbrüche und „stehende Wellen“ ausgleicht. Nicht nur bei HiFi-Einsatz, sondern auch in Tonstudios, bei Home-Recording und auf der Bühne kommt der AUDIO SOURCE EQ-One zum Einsatz. Arbeitsweise: Der EQ-ONE entzerrt durch ein synthetisch erzeugtes Rosa-Rausch-Signal, das zu gleichen Teilen aus allen Frequenzen zusammengesetzt ist. Dieses Signal wird über die Lautsprecher im gesamten Frequenzgang wiedergegeben und von dem Kondensator-Mikrofon aufgenommen. Dieses Signal wird in seinem Frequenzmittenbereich nun keinen flachen Frequenzgang ergeben, sondern einzelne Frequenzmittenbereiche werden entweder über oder unter der linearen, durch die grünen LED angezeigten Linie liegen. Der tatsächlich von den Lautsprechern wiedergegebene Frequenzbereich wird durch das Display sichtbar. Diese Information dient zur Betätigung des Entzerrerteils des EQ-ONE, mit dessen Schiebe-Reglern, die den Frequenzmittenbereichen der Anzeige entsprechen, ein flacher Frequenzgang eingestellt werden kann.
