Vintage Marantz CD52 Mk II Hi-Fi CD Player - Audiophile Quality, FWO, 1992. DescriptionBack at the start of the 1990s, when compact disc still seemed to the format to end all other formats, the Marantz CD52 was the best CD player on the market - it might not have been quite as good as players costing ten times as much, but in terms of value for money it was absolutely unbeatable at £200. The old saying insists that if it aint broke, you shouldnt fix it. Fortunately, Marantz ignored that and in 1992 made the CD52 even better by adding lots of the features found on the CD52 SE which was £80 more expensive than the standard model - equivalent to around £232 more expensive today. Then they called it the CD52 Mk II and, somehow, found a way to make it in their native Belgium yet sell it at the same price as the original. That, ladies and gentleman, is what we used to call a bloomin good deal. This one is in fair condition with a few small marks here and there from use, though the fascia is in good shape so the scuffs and scratches on top arent going to be an issue if you stick another hi-fi component on it. Most importantly, audio quality is every bit as good as expected - rich and vibrant right across the stage with warmth comparable to that of a high end record player. If you take audio quality seriously, the CD52 Mk II is a bargain that will not disappoint. Ses 2 X 30 Watt sont certainement une aide ponctuelle, mais cest juste un régale. Un son chaud, précis, pêchu, clair, détaillé au possible. Cet ampli, en plus dêtre beau, est juste superbe pour mes oreilles. J’ai été conquis avec les DM2 et les DM4. En effet, ces enceintes anglaises sont superbes pour le rendu des voix, mais il ne faut pas leur demander une dynamique capable de réveiller Fenshu Kabadawi ou joey jordison, mais pour un rendu de voix classique, pour du Jazz, ces enceintes sont des merveilles. Pourtant, le marantz arrive à leur apporter une dynamique qui va permettre à ces enceintes de se surpasser. Comme je l’ai dit, un superbe équilibre. Avec cet ampli, les DM2 gardent leur identité, mais se démènent d’avantage pour apporter un surplus de dynamique vraiment intéressant.
