Description
New turntable belt is recently installed, which has been sourced from the parts department of audio-technica USA. This audio-technica mister disc portable record player turntable, model AT770, is fully functional. Auto on/off via tonearm, battery operation, cartridge operation, headphone outputs, line outputs, power adapter operation, and speed settings have all been tested. During the several decades of ownership, I used this unit less than an hour total. I probably purchased it brand new; I cannot remember. Nevertheless, I expect its stylus wear to be minimal as even if I had purchased it used it would have had little usage before, since the cosmetics of the unit show almost no sign of use even now. A replacement stylus should be available from audio-technica when needed. This original model, AT770, introduced in 1982-1983, was produced for only 4-5 years. Recently, audio-technica has released a 21st Century version of this turntable, called SOUND BURGER. I refrain from using the word updated, as I am not sure if the changes are necessarily improvements. Here are some features that the original has and the 21st Century SOUND BURGER lacks: battery operation with 3 type C batteries, headphone cord hanger to avoid interference with record playing, power input for 4.5 Volt DC adapter, RCA output jacks, twin headphone output jacks, and 2 grams of tracking force rather than the 3-3.5 grams of the current SOUND BURGER. Also, it was manufactured in Japan rather than in P.R.C. Many of these original models are non-functional due to the aging of their electrolytic capacitors. I had a SONY Discman D-555 that became disfunctional for that reason, and I had also the SONY PS-F9 which I presume that, although technologically quite advanced, is much more prone to aging or lack of parts than the audio-technica models AT770 or AT727. This particular unit is to be supplied with its blank registration card, carrying case, and owners manual. Shipping to lower 48 states only
