Audio Research SP-11 mk2 Im the second owner of this amp and must have had it about 20 years. For whatever reason, its been very little used throughout its life and it shows. It is in excellent condition. It was serviced by Dave Hunter in Nottinghamshire - who is an extremely qualified electrical engineer, and is a specialist in valve amps - both audio and guitar, and has all the ARC data. The report has been attached. I sent it for a general service as there was an issue with the mute/soft start circuit. All it needed was one low voltage capacitor changed. All the other capacitors are in perfect condition, as are the original Sovtek valves, all 6 of them. The amp is 100% original apart from the one cap change above. Most of the audio caps are REL teflon, so have huge life spans. The electrolytics are well within spec, so Dave recommended leaving as-is. Ill package both the amp and PSU in seperate boxes, both double boxed properly, and send by Parcelforce 48, tracked and signed for. It may take a day or two to get properly packed. Please let me know if you need full insurance, as that will cost a bit extra for the peace of mind. Note that this ARC is particularly noted for its excellent phono stage. Still a contender after all these years. It also has a separate gain control as well as volume attenuation which makes it quite flexible for matching to power amp of differing sensitivity. The unit is a 240V UK model, so the power outlets designed for the American market were blanked off from new. I doubt there is a better collectable example of an SP11 out there. This is a great sounding classic phono stage. I think it started off as a PH3. At some point it was updated to the PH3-SE. This has the same tubes that came with the phono stage when I purchased it. Theyre good tubes. There are better tubes out there, but it is quasi-religious, so I keep tube selection to myself. There are a few small scuffs/scratches, but no dents or signs of abuse. It runs quiet (no audible transformer hub, and no hum in the signal). Satisfaction is guaranteed, but return shipping is on the buyer. I will protect the original box with an even larger box. A box, in a box, in a box. Boxity box box BOX! Let me know which service in your area is the least crappy. I will usually choose UPS, but your UPS driver might suck, so let me know. Audio Research SP9 with phono input I am clearing out before a house move and offering this popular preamp for sale. Solid-state/valve hybrid design and beautifully constructed. The phono input is moving magnet or HOMC only. Tube dampers are fitted to both valves. I found the output to be quite high for my power amplifier so, although it is adjustable with internal modification, I have bought two Rothwell attenuators that worked well. I will include in the sale. The condition is excellent with just a few barely visible abrasions on the faceplate. I believe this is the Mark I model although I do not know for sure whether it has been modified by previous owner(s). Some were modified to Mk.II standard.
