Here’s a nice Audio Research Foundation Series VT80 amp, originally in silver, now in black. I also have what I believe are some original silver trim pieces. If you want those, I will see if i can safely pack them in the original carton with the amp or you can just pay me the extra shipping cost to send a second and smaller box your way. When I got this unit I got in touch with ARC and I ordered the optional tube cage for it along with a new “Certified Matched” tube set featuring the SE-spec KT150 tubes. In the two years since, I’ve put just 57.9 Hours on that factory tube set. As you may know, the early units were sold as VT80 with KT120 tubes (as this one probably was). Soon after launch, they went to the larger KT150 tubes and with that change alone, these units became VT80SE tube amps. There was no other difference between VT80 or VT80SE. The SE came by virtue of a simple tube change alone. You will notice we have enhanced the USB capability in the DAC8 by upgrading to USB 2.0 HS (high speed) which runs at 480Mbps. USB 2.0 HS has a lower jitter specification than USB 2.0 FS (full speed 12mbps), consequently the DAC8 is capable of reproducing music with higher resolution than products communicating at USB 2.0 FS speeds. In addition, the DAC8 employs a low jitter Dual Master Oscillator design which will provide superior digital to analog conversion via the USB 2.0 HS input as well as via the more traditional S/PDIF, RCA, BNC, OPT and AES inputs. Our USB 2.0 HS audio interface is optimized for all 6 popular sample rates currently in use; 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4 and 192kHz. I have for sale some very rare Audio Research gold plated, machined metal knobs. These are (new old stock) knobs that were in storage for a number of years and have never been installed in equipment. The overall condition of the knobs is very good. Two of the knobs have some minor scratchs on the side which is only noticeable on close examination. The knobs are from the estate of an Audio Research employee. Im selling (4) knobs in my ad as pictured, The knobs will fit any Audio Research preamplifier that starts with an SP and take 4 knobs. Such as the Audio Research SP-4, SP-5, SP-6, SP-7, SP-8 SP-9, Note: The knobs will not fit the Audio Research LS series of line stage preamplifiers. One thing worth mentioning...the knobs have a shiny gold surface, so its very hard to get a good picture of one knob or a group of knobs.
