Good for UK, Abbas confirmed, and so it is, I have three of his preamp units. Potent dynamics, wide soundstage, air and natural rich tone allows magical depth of natural sound LP playback. After 10 years using a Glenn Croft (x3) valve phono stage with off-board dual mono 500kva PSU, I found the Abbas delivers appreciably more, begging the question, how much more could one hear from LPs? I have two units. I will retain one with dual voltage transformer. This second should go to a new home. EF86 input, passive RC RIAA with Siemens PIO capacitors, output with choke-loaded EL84s, Use either EZ80 or EZ81 rectifier (Mullard EZ80 supplied as well as original USSR made valve) Audionote tantalum non magnetic resistors in the EF86 anode and in the correction circuit. Audio Note (UK) M1 RIAA Phonovorverstärker welche von Triple M Audioshop (Pink Faun) in den Niederlanden in zwei Stufen grundlegend verbessert wurde. Er spielt seitdem mindestens auf dem Level eines M2 RIAA. Hifi-Journalist Olaf Sturm über die Hörsession Classic Album Sundays in Brüssel, wo das David Bowie-Album ´The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders of Marsau´ in Anwesenheit des damaligen Produzenten Ken Scott vorgespielt wurde, auf einer Anlage mit diesem ´getunten´ Phonovorverstärker (Plattenspieler Audio Note TT2 Deluxe mit IO1 Tonabnehmer und Audio Innovations Series 800 Ausgangsübertrager): Die Avantgarde Duo XD (Lautsprecher) spielten sensationell!´ Die Upgrades beinhalten: Ausgangekondensatoren ersetzt durch selektierte Papier-Ölkondensatoren aus ehemalige russische Militärbestanden, mit Teflon-Bypasskondensatoren Allen-Bradley Widerstände im RIAA-Teil- wobei teilweise mehrere Exemplare parallelgeschaltet worden sind Netzteil neu konfiguriert (Choke-Loaded) Neuer, großer Sicherungshalter (Kontaktfläche!) mit audiophiler Sicherung. Leider ist es wegen schwerer Krankheit nicht mehr zu diesem Upgrade gekommen und in der Zwischenzeit beschaffte ich mir ein anderer Phonovorverstärker (Allnic H1500 II SE). Leider sind mir wegen einem zwischenzeitlichen Umzug die kleinen Schräubchen vom Gehäusedeckel abhanden gekommen. Letztere beiden Umständen sind in der sehr günstige Startpreis berücksichtigt worden. Unlike the original Zero it uses the same non-oversampling / filtering approach as the AN DACs higher up the range. The DAC 0.1x is currently the only one in the range to feature USB connectivity, making it the perfect companion to enhance any streamer! The Audio Note DAC 0.1x is the first and currently the only unit in the Audio Note UK range to offer both coaxial 75 ohm SPDIF and USB inputs, selectable using a fascia-mounted switch. The DAC circuit is based around the well-regarded Phillips TDA1543 converter chip and employs 1x oversampling using Direct From Disc technology together with no digital filtering. The DAC 0.1x uses a valve output analogue stage with a 6111WA miniature dual triode, Beyschlag precision resistors and Audio Note tin foil capacitors. Extensive research into the fundamental properties of the data stream itself have shown beyond doubt that regardless of the theoretical and measurable advantages of the signal manipulation employed in all currently available digital products, such as higher over sampling, noise shaping, re-clocking or jitter reduction, the result is this: all these corrective measures greatly interfere with the critical time domain requirements of the signal. Current theory is based on an assumption that music is similar to book keeping data which of course it is not. Music is a time continuum from beginning to end, which when broken is irreparably damaged and no amount of clever manipulation can ever restore it to its original time-frequency-amplitude duration or relationship, regardless of what the theorists may tell you. The DAC uses the revolutionary and currently exclusive Audio Note digital technology dubbed 1x oversampling™ direct from disc™ circuit topology. The technology in essence dispenses with all the correction measures inherent in all other D/A converters and presents the digital signal directly to the converter after reformatting. In other words, all products in the Audio Note DAC range have no oversampling, no jitter reduction, no noise shaping and no re-clocking. Having removed all the digital filtering that is part of the oversampling, we have also dispensed with all filtering in the analogue domain to further retain good wide band phase-frequency and dynamically coherent behaviour. The end result being a reproduction more reminiscent of master tape in quality, with greater differentiation and contrast between different recordings. DAC0.1x converter uses a Philips TDA1543 stereo D/A converter chip and features a 6111WA valve zero feedback output stage. Review:With some decent run-in time, it’s the AN 0.1x that’s the winner for me. I have to say I now have the urge to hear the higher ups in the AN range, even if it’s hard to imagine, despite price tags drifting off into the stratosphere, that they could be all that much that much better than this little charmer . For now at least, it’s punching above its position in the hierarchy and it seems fairly reasonable price-wise too. Anyway if anyone is in the market for a DAC, and has the tube religion (or even if they don’t), the 0.1x is worth a listen – there’s no doubt in my mind this little AN is a real cracker in terms of sound, and I’m surprised there’s not much of a whisper about it anywhere online. We are definitely living in a golden age of digital reproduction!

Audio Note AN-V Digital Cable Please note that this was originally listed as 19-stands but having done a bit of research and taking the age of the cable into account then it is more likely to be 15-strands. I have been using this 15-strand silver cable for a few years now and it is quite superb. Made by the wonderful Audio Note, it is 15 strands of very pure silver and terminated with their fantastic AN-P RCA plugs, which are £50+ each new! Length is 0.8m from tip-to-tip. It is a digital interconnect and used to take the output signal from CD transport or server to a DAC. I bought the cable already used and it must be quite a few years old - as a result, the markings on the cable have now worn off but it is marked so you know the direction the signal should go and how to connect (courtesy of advice from AN) As a result, I cannot prove that it is genuine but I have used it for several years and compared to various other high-end cables (including my new ones) and am 100% certain that it is the real deal. I dont think anyone would go to the trouble of putting AN-P plugs onto fake cable! If the winning bidder receives the cable and has any doubts about its authenticity then they are welcome to take it along to their nearest Audio Note dealer to get an expert opinion and, failing that, send off to AN for a definitive answer.
