The speakers are in working condition and sound amazing but have some cosmetic issues. One has some swelling from water on the very bottom and there is some peeling laminate for instance - see pictures for details. Amazing deal for such legendary high resolution speakers with a long Apogee tweeter that many consider to be the best tweeter ever made. One woofer had the rubber surround separating from the cone and I repaired that with speaker repair glue that I had from a previous speaker repair. They are both operating well and as mentioned sound amazing. While these speakers will benefit from quality electronics, they are not difficult to drive compared to the all ribbon Apogee speakers so they can pair well with a variety of equipment from receivers to quality separates. I am not a technician so I cant tell you if they are operating to speck but to me they sound quite amazing - the clarity of the ribbon is phenomenal. At this price, they are great as is if you dont mind the cosmetic issues or can be the starting point of a great project - I have heard some people upgrade the woofer for even better performance.
