AKAI GX-77 is a great machine. It has a great look, compact size and includes some interesting features such as auto-reverse function, manual biasing plus it uses the well known GX heads. But there is a known issue with this machine related with the tape transport system, known as the slow fast-forward and fast-rewind issue. There are several posts on the internet about this. Most of the posts placed in related foruns are innacurate or even totally wrong. So, knowing that there are many people in the world that, love their GX-77 and have this same problem, we developed a mod kit that can be installed by anyone. Installation is very simple and for doing it you dont need to be an expert in electronics! However, you do need to have basic skills about using a simple soldering iron and a couple of tools to cut some wires and join a few other and deal with some screws! Really, thats only it! For the installation of this mod, you will be given a detailed tutorial with step-by-step explanation about what to do, including all necessary (but very basic) schematics just to let you understand what you will be doing. You will get a fabric version dual layer PCB, with high quality components, manually assembled, tested and fully certified on LAB before shipping.
