If your original hinges are broken and still on the tape recorder, you can replace them if you have experience with technical work on the Akai GX 747. These hinges are a part of the pivot mechanism (see last photo) and are usually broken when the door is lost. You need to carefully disassemble the lower part, remove the broken hinges, and insert new ones with the attached cover. ATTENTION! You must have the pivot mechanism installed in the tape recorder, otherwise you will not be able to fix the cover and make it pivot, see last photo.
