***PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE LISTING BEFORE PURCHASING!*** For sale is a AKAI GX-630D-SS 4 track 4-channel 10.5 inch Reel to Reel tape deck recorder. It is in very good condition albeit with scuffs, marks. Wooden cabinet in fairly good shape as is the head cover with some minor wear and dings on it . Refer to pics. It has been tested, serviced, calibrated and the heads were cleaned and demagnetized for the best sound ever! The mic inputs were tested and they work as well as the other inputs. The pots and switches were sprayed and the metal parts were lubed as well. Both channels are clear and superb sounding as well. The belts and caps were checked and they’re good. All the functions work and the VU Meters light up and jump like they are supposed to. The sound when recording at 3 3/4 IPS is very clear and better and wider sounding than the Source recording from, depending on the type of tape used and better at 7 1/2 IPS . The heads are also in very good shape which is obviously why the quality is awesome as well. Pictured reels and hubs are my personal set for testing, for demonstration purposes only and NOT INCLUDED. Unfortunately, the high selling fees here on eBay make it all but IMPOSSIBLE to negotiate on the price. Some reel to reel decks I will list ONLY on Reverb due to the high value and you can find more of them on there. If you are on a budget or cant afford the price, you should purchase one of the lesser priced models listed for sale. For those who think the price might be a little too high, there is a saying I live by that goes “You Get What You Pay For”! Here, you are getting a deck that actually is cleaned, adjusted, rigorously tested, and ready to use out of the box. I am putting this out there in light of a bunch of people who add this to their watchlist or the shopping cart, but ultimately do not make the purchase (some do this to try to pressure me into reducing the price). Unfortunately, several of them have arrived in worse condition than they originally left here in (e.g. buyer did not pack the deck properly, or the deck was misused or tampered with) so accepting returns has become much too risky.
