Offered for your consideration is an ADS part #206-0101 1 inch dome tweeter removed from my L300C speakers, USA-manufactured in 1983. This model tweeter was used in many other ADS speakers from the late 1970’s into the 1980’s—L200, L200C, L200CC, L300, L300CC, L300W, 300i, 2001, 2002, and L10—and appears to be identical to the less frequently found 206-0101A and 206-0102 tweeters. So, please have a look at the large photos and read the remaining description to decide if this capable ADS high frequency driver is correct for your needs. This ADS tweeter is in clean, excellent condition. It has a structurally sound radiating surface with just a couple of tiny dimples. Plus, the black-enameled metal faceplate looks great with just some finish wear at the flange edges by the mount holes. Also, there is no oxidation on the large magnet or retention screws. And, the +/- terminals measure the industry standard .205”, are marked for polarity (red dot side is positive), and have never been soldered on the spades. Overall, this tweeter is very nicely preserved. Most importantly, it’s been fully tested and sounds great as you’d expect from ADS—very strong and clear with remarkable high-frequency detail as rated to a full 20kHz. Plus, I tested the DC resistance at 4.3?, consistent with a 4-6 ohm nominal driver rating. Lastly, the faceplate measures 3?” wide x 2 9/16” high, it stands 1” tall (not incl. the protruding dome), and the mounting holes are spaced 3¼” long way, 1 15/16” short way, c-t-c. This is a nice find if your L300C, or other suitable ADS model, has a blown or damaged tweeter and will have your speakers sounding their best again in no time! Plus, long discontinued and rising in price every year on the resale market, it’s a great spare to have around just in case!
