RME ADI-2 DAC FS audiophile DAC. Extremely configurable and programable with 5-band EQ, DSP, crossfeed, tone controls, loudness, SteadyClock FS, etc.; includes preamp and headphone amp with volume control. Sounds very clear, crisp, and natural. Note that this is the version with the AKM4493 chip (see the B suffix of the serial number in the pictures of the back). Analog Outputs: balanced xlr and unbalanced rca, low-noise iem output, high-pwer headphone output (you can use both outputs at the same time: for example, I had the balanced outputs connected to my power amp and a headphone output connected to my active subwoofer)Digital Inputs: USB, SPIDF coaxial and optical Sample Rates: up to 768Hz and DSD 256 Included: manual, remote control, custom power cable to linear power supply, and original switching power supply. Since it sounded better with a linear power supply, I had a custom power cable made by Pine Tree Audio. The DAC uses a special DC power input plug that locks into the device. So the original plug from the switched power supply was removed and connected to the custom power cable (see red cable in the pictures). Note that the original power supply now lacks the DC plug and ends with the bare cable (see picture of cables). If you want to use the original power supply, you have to cut off the plug from the custom cable and reconnect it to the power supply cable. The original power supply is also available from RME.
