- Acurus A250 - This amplifier is AWESOME! When I first saw it I thought oh cool an Acurus.I had no idea. See, over the years, the internal components of amplifiers for mid range non-class A amps have been getting smaller and smaller. The manufacturers of the components keep making things smaller for efficiency and because they can. They squeeze everything into tiny microchips on tiny circuit boards and claim it sounds better than it did before. They say theres no difference in sound quality when a component gets smaller.But there is a difference. A sound diffrence.I always tell my friends who want to buy some HiFi stuff, unless youre ready to spend $20,000 on new top notch stuff, buy some used stuff on eBay from the 80s & 90s. It was a prime time because the manufacturing technology had improved the performance of the components over that of the 60s & 70s, its not terribly old yet and its not all smashed to together into a microchip.Units like these are a huge value for the money. I have another one that Ill be listing soon. I set these two amps up running bi-amped on some B&W test speakers. I used an external DAC and some WAV files from my computer. 12 AWG speaker cables and power cords (yes size does matter for the current draw) and HOLY COW. The clarity and imaging was astounding. They really are fantastic amplifiers from a better time in manufacturing for mid-priced stuff. But not mid quality! Not everyone needs to have several hundred watts on tap, but if you are one who does, this is an amplifier to look at, and listen to, closely. It is an outstanding product in terms of both performance and value. Im only selling them because of a back injury, so Im not working as much. I hate to see them go. :( But I know youll enjoy them thoroughly! Up for auction is an ACURUS 200X3, power amplifier. The amplifier has 3 channels at 200W RMS/channel and two large power supply filter caps at 24000uF each. The unit is in almost excellent condition, considering the age (see the pictures). This is a 120V model, S/N 7158. All the questions are very welcome. I moved recently in US from Greece, where I was working in Greek Nakamichi service during 90s and I have all the professional equipment (original test tapes, oscilloscope, wow & flutter meter, distortion meter, frequency response meter, CR-7 test unit, 1000ZXL test unit).
