The good: - This unit plays tapes and records them, and the audio does play crisp and clean.- I have not observed it eating any tapes, and I have cleaned the tape path (heads, capstan, pinch roller).- The 2-color meter (greenish-blue and red) are pleasant to look at. The not-so-good: - The speed is just the tiniest bit on the slow side. Some people might not even notice. I was playing a Beatles tape I had made on another deck, and it sounded a little on the lazy side, but not terrible.- When you power the unit on, sometimes it makes a squealing noise for several seconds, and then goes away. Similarly, when you press the PLAY button, sometimes it squeals for a few seconds, then goes away.- It is a handsome unit, but with some scuffs and scratches collected over its 30+ year life. I have tried to show all imperfections in the photos, but from a straight-on view of its face, it looks very presentable.
