This unique system employed a cross-shaped armature which, among other advantages, guaranteed exceptional stereo separation since each channel moves on a separate axis. The job of any pickup cartridge is to transform the records physical profile (groove modulation) into corresponding electrical signals (which are then amplified or enlarged by the amplifier and turned into audible sound waves by the loudspeaker.A cartridge must perform three separate and exacting tasks if it is to do this job successfully. It must function mechanically (the movements of the stylus in the groove); it must function magnetically (using the physical movements to create changes in a magnetic field); and it must function electrically (using the changes in magnetic flux to generate an electrical current). At each stage, one type of energy is transferred into another, quite different, type. And the transfer must be perfect, with no energy lost and none added from extraneous sources. No cartridge will ever reach this ideal unless the Laws of Physics can be repealed. However, by understanding the relationships between the three transfer stages and continually applying refined engineering techniques, B&Os belief was that each stage of cartridge improvement would bring each successive cartridge closer to the ideal. Record wear and the cartridgeIf you take music seriously the value of your record collection is likely to be high. Many of your records are likely to be irreplaceable. You will also know that the signals pressed into your vinyl discs are very fragile indeed. The pickup cartridge can be the discs worse enemy since an ill-suited cartridge can mark a record for life in a single play. While B&O is aware that cartridge specifications are inter-related, their research shows consistently that Effective Tip Mass (ETM) is one of the major factors affecting record wear. ETM is the equivalent of the amount of inertia the groove sees in moving or accelerating the stylus tip. Consequently, the higher the ETM value, the higher the force required for a given constant acceleration. Obviously, more force results in more wear.Three elements contribute to ETM. The stylus tip (diamond) contributes with its entire weight and mass. The armature contributes between 5 - 20% of its weight and mass; the cantilever around 30%. B&O has been able to reduce ETM substantially by refining these elements and building them into an integrated unit. The result is a system which not only reduces damage to the groove walls dramatically, but also provides exceptional performance at all frequencies. Any questions just get in touch, Id be glad to help.

Thanks BeoCenter 7700 Manufactured: 1982 - 1986 Designer: Jacob Jensen Colours: Rosewood, Teak In 1982, Bang & Olufsen introduced a completely new way of living with music. The company was then the only one in the world to fulfil the desire for perfect sound from attic to basement - from just the one central music system. With the Beolink® system - around which Beocenter 7700 was based - you could enjoy and control you music system in several rooms. From acorns great oak trees spring, and most of the the current (2002) range of TV and hi-fi systems can be equally controlled to give you 'round the house music' using the latest MasterLink system. The very advanced (for its time) Beocenter 7700 system brought an entirely new range of possibilities to the serious music-lover. For the very first time ever, round-the-house hi-fi became an option, in whichever room you wanted to listen to it. Beocenter 7700 featured Long, Medium and FM radio, automatic record deck, microcomputer controlled cassette recording and 2 x 40 watts RMS stereo amplifier. Two user-programmable 24-hour timers were included, and all sound sources are accessible by infra-red remote control. From this comprehensive and desirable foundation, it was possible to build up (either immediately, or room by room) a sound system that could be enjoyed and operated from anywhere in the house ( a forerunner to the later Beolink® system). This is how it worked. The remote Terminal (Master Control panel) supplied with the Beocenter 7700 had control buttons for armchair access to all primary playing and recording functions. But in addition, it also had three digital read-out panels on which your instructions were confirmed every time you pressed a button. So you had your means of talking to your Beocenter 7700, and it had a means of talking to you - right there in your hand. Your instructions were carried to the Beocenter's microcomputer by infra-red light, and confirmatory signals were returned to the remote control Terminal in the same way - in a fraction of a second. This two-way communication could be extended to other rooms by fitting those rooms with a pair of speakers and an electronic Master Control Link, all available as optional accessories. When you wanted to listen to music or radio in a room away from the Beocenter, the remote control Terminal was taken with you. By directing it at the Master Control link (which you had fixed on the wall or on a shelf) in just the same way as you would normally direct it towards the Beocenter, you could control all primary functions and receive confirmation that the Beocenter was doing what you want. The Master Link equipment could be fitted in up to four different rooms, and you could choose which speakers were to play and which were to be silent. It was like having a complete, top-quality hi-fi system in every room, but paying for only one (plus as many loudspeakers and Master Links as you needed). You could, if you wished, buy additional remote control Terminals if you didn't want to carry one around the house. But this was not strictly necessary. Beocenter 7700 offered top quality sound from records, radio and cassettes. Operation was fast, easy and foolproof because of a built-in microcomputer which blocked mistakes, automating many boring, repetitive operations - like switching off one sound source before switching on another. Two timers, each with a 24-hour memory and automatic repeat function, allowed you to record or play any programme at specific times - day after day if you wished. The digital clock could be displayed or not - it was up to you. You could pre-set 6 favourite FM radio stations, or 5 FM and one AM (Long or Medium wave) for instant press-button recall - either by direct or remote control. The cassette section had many advanced features to make recording easier and more accurate. Replay, too - it was necessary just to key-in the appropriate counter reading and the cassette would fast wind to any point on the tape. It was as easy as finding a particular track on a record. Metal, ferric and chrome tapes could be used, and the Dolby Noise Reduction circuits ensured clean, hiss-free sound. The record deck was fitted with the (then) very latest type of tone arm and miniature MMC 3 cartridge. This pick-up carried a tiny naked elliptical diamond and weighed only 1.6 grams. It had superb tracking ability and ensured the minimum of record wear. The safe handling of records was also the idea behind the turntable light - fitted inside the hinged lid - which switched on automatically whenever the lid was opened, and stayed alight as long as the deck was in operation. Beocenter 7700 was available in natural teak or rosewood finish. It measured 72cm wide x 9.5cm high (37.5cm with the lid open) x 38cm deep and could be accommodated in either SC.50 or SC.70 System Cabinet, available separately. Your choice of loudspeakers for use with Beocenter 7700 was really a matter of listening and comparing the various Beovox models. Different households had different requirements - in size, in quality and in cost. Fortunately, with the Beovox range the choice was a wide one. Advice on speakers for the Beocenter 7700 included Beovox C40, C75, S45, S55 and S80. Beocenter 7700 was introduced as a completely new way of operating a hi-fi system. A way which gave individuals the freedom to enjoy top quality sound all over the house; at the same time to control the music from anywhere in any room. This was the world's first high fidelity system that could be operated from another room. With the Beocenter 7700's master Control Panel and and optional Master Control Link, you could control radio, record deck, cassette recorder and stereo amplifier even though you were in the kitchen or bedroom and the set itself was in the lounge. So when you want music in another room, don't move the hi-fi - just move the music! A Master Control Panel (above) was supplied with every Beocenter 7700. It was used just like an ordinary remote control handset when you were listening in the lounge, close to your hi-fi system. It let you operate all sound sources and adjust volume levels without moving from the comfortable armchair. Master Control Link was an optional accessory, like the additional loudspeakers you needed in order to enjoy your music in other rooms. The Link equipment consisted of two units - a discreet black box containing a mass of sophisticated electronic circuitry (which could be fitted out of sight behind furniture etc.), and a transceiver unit that was placed on a shelf or wall where it could pick up the infra-red signals from your Master Control Panel. The transceiver unit also let you switch the speakers in this room on or off, and gave access to programmes that were due to be played via the Beocenter's automatic timers. You could buy extra stereo speakers and Master Control links for one, two or three additional rooms, as well as enjoying the hi-fi system itself which you probably installed in the living room or the lounge. The Master Link equipment was connected by cable 'in series', i.e. only the first extra room is connected direct to the Beocenter; the second extra room was connected to the first and so on, so wiring was kept to a minimum. And you could add each room one by one - as your needs changed or your budget allowed. Please message me for that serviceTESTIMONIALS DescriptionAt the time of its introduction, the Master Control Panel 7700 was the most ambitious remote control terminal to be offered by B&O. Intended for use with the Beocenter 7700, this advanced product made use of a new technique, two-way infrared communication. In simple terms, this meant that both the terminal and the Beocenter could transmit and receive data via the IR link, allowing the terminal to display what the audio system was actually doing (not just which keys had been pressed recently). The reason behind this level of sophistication was that the Beocenter 7700 was intended for use as the centre of a multi-room link system, so knowing what the main system was doing without having to go and have a look was a real advantage. Using the Link 82 transceiver unit, the Master Control Panel could show, for example, which radio station was playing or confirm that a recording was taking place. The Master Control Panel 7700 was also the first B&O product to use LCD displays. These were similar to the types used in the watches and calculators of the day, and could only show a limited variety of simple shapes. In the case of the Master Control Panel 7700, a more flexible display was formed by using three units, one to show the volume and muting status, one to show the source selection and one for miscellaneous functions such as “record”. A disadvantage of the LCD technique was that the displays were “reflective” and could only be read in good ambient lighting. To get around this, a backlight was fitted behind each one, though to save power only the display(s) in use were lit, and then only when a built-in sensor deemed it dark enough for the backlight to be worthwhile. The light sensor was hidden behind a small green square on the display panel, next to a “transmit” indicator of identical appearance.Unlike later two-way IR products, the Master Control Panel 7700 could function normally even if the returned data was not received. It could therefore be used with the Beocenter 7007 as well, though much of the advantage was lostManufactured: 1983 - 1986 Designer: Jacob Jensen Colours: Black WORLDWIDE carriage may cost more OR LESS!! than the listing states (I have to enter an estimated figure) and will be charged in full as per the service chosen and destination country. My daughter Issy is 5 years old, the apple of my eye, my teacher and the beneficiary of your purchases. (She says THANK YOU VERY MUCH!) Tommy is 5-months old and his dimples charm the world. I endeavour to source the HIGHEST quality electronics, mostly B&O HiFi and will have owned most of the models in question at some time in my life. This gives me a real experience of the merits to share with you. Im a time-served Sound Engineer and use my trained ear to check each audio item. Its not just sonics though, look out for the weird and wonderful... as long as its well madePRE-SALE ENQUIRIES:Im more than happy to answer any questions, offer advice and make suggestions over the phone and many customers have already found this useful. Please call the customer service line accessed by clicking the ask a question feature or opening the full information link in the business information section below. This is ebays procedure and not mine. PRODUCTION DESIGNERS AND PROPERTIES BUYERS A number of my items have now featured in TV ads, theatre and film productions and professional photography having been bought by production designers, location agents and properties buyers. These include a Beocenter 2200, Beocenter 7007 and Beovox S45 speakers among others. I recognise the tight deadlines that you have to work to and the immediacy you often have to work under. For the speediest solution I can offer, including same or next day delivery, suitability of product or advice on matching items to an era (or decade), please use the customer service line accessed by clicking the ask a question feature or opening the full information link in the business information section below. COLLECT IN PERSON:This is actively encouraged! This way, no clumsy or disgruntled delivery person can break it! Do check in advance the location of the item youre interested in. A quick call will be all thats needed to confirm the whereabouts. Whilst the business is registered in London, I also have stock stored in Maidstone, Manchester and the Midlands. I can only accept cash on collection as the payment method if visiting the premises due to the PayPal charge back scam. INSTALLATION:I am increasingly being commissioned to complete installations of the products that I sell. Depending upon your location and items purchased this can be achieved for little more than the usual shipping and insurance costs of the selected units. You receive the assurance of a properly connected system, including optimum placement design and the benefit of a full demonstration, highlighting the tips and techniques garnered from decades of experience and expertise. Recent installations have ranged from a single Beocenter being connected to the existing speakers and unit for an 89-years young-lady for a few hundred pounds to a multi-room, Beocenter, Beogram, Beovox and B&O dedicated cabinet and stands combination, with remote control, for a few thousand pounds. Please use the ask a question feature to access the pre-sales telephone number to discuss your requirements.SOURCING SERVICE:Cant find that B&O product that youve yearned for since you were a kid? Need a rare or discontinued part to repair your unit? If I dont have it in stock, then I can normally source one very quickly. I have a wide network of fellow enthusiasts, collectors, dealerships and retired B&O Engineers whom I can call upon to fulfill your needs.FEEDBACK:Your positive feedback is vital to all good sellers. It lets us know that you are happy, if not delirious, about your purchase. On very rare occasions, there may be an issue with your order, such as courier damage or simply leaving transit screws engaged. (Quite common). I can remedy any such issues to your complete satisfaction most quickly via the telephone or eBay message (without the need to open a case). Please use the contact number shown when you select the ask a question button. I realise that you are very, very busy, only one in three of my clients has found the time to leave feedback that also informs their peers of their positive experience. Indeed all of Qualitronics feedback is from buyers and not inflated by that of other sellers. Your contribution will be greatly appreciated. INTERNATIONAL PURCHASES:Please note that Qualitronics is not responsible for any additional import tariffs or customs charges levied at source or upon delivery. It is the buyers responsibility to check before purchasing for their own countrys charges. VOLTAGE:All electrical items are UK voltage (240v) and B&O UK type xxxx unless otherwise stated.

This unique system employed a cross-shaped armature which, among other advantages, guaranteed exceptional stereo separation since each channel moves on a separate axis. The job of any pickup cartridge is to transform the records physical profile (groove modulation) into corresponding electrical signals (which are then amplified or enlarged by the amplifier and turned into audible sound waves by the loudspeaker. A cartridge must perform three separate and exacting tasks if it is to do this job successfully. Record wear and the cartridge If you take music seriously the value of your record collection is likely to be high. Obviously, more force results in more wear. Three elements contribute to ETM.

Bang & Olufsen Beocenter 7700, master control panel 7700 & working B&O MMC3. Designed by Jacob Jensen in 1982, the Beocenter 7700 was the dawn of the Beolink® system. Years ahead of its time, you could control your stereo and speakers from all around the house. This listing comprises of the Beocenter 7700, the 7700 Master Control Panel and an original, working MMC3 nudeline elliptical diamond cartridge. The Beocenter is in working order although Ive been unable to properly test the tape deck. The radio works, but a new aerial is required in order for it to tune to stations effectively. The main event, the turntable works perfectly as does the light in the hood above the platter. The LCD display also functions and can be controlled by the Master Control Panel, which works aside from the LCD displays. As with most units of this age, it has its quirks. The panel above the tape/radio deck doesnt stand up on its own and a previous owner has made some attempts to fix that without success. There is a small screw visible in the steel panel to fix something into place. Its not really noticeable, but youll see it if you zoom in on the main photo. Some kind of expanding filler is visible when you open the tape/radio deck hood on the right hand bracket. The infra-red receiver on the left of the Beocenter needs to be glued back into place, but this should be a simple fix. Most of you wont really care about the above and will be chiefly interested in the MMC3. If thats the case then please bear in mind that I considered listing separately, but would like the Beocenter taken off my hands as I just dont have the space for it any more. Collection only as these things are incredibly fragile. Dont have the B&O speaker connectors any more (lost in house move) so will struggle to provide a full demo, but do have a pair of rudimentary headphones that will prove it functions.
