You get 10 used slipcases in excellent shape; they are used, but they were clearly treated very gently and were stored in minidisc storage cases, so theyre more or less flawless. These particular minidisc cases are crystal-clear polystyrene with tombstone-shaped cutouts. If youre not sure what that means, read on!Minidisc slipcases come in a dozen varieties, but the 2 decisions you need to make are style (slipcase vs hinged jewel case) and material (polystyrene vs polypropylene). Style: With slipcases, the discs slide in and out; jewel cases have a hinge, so the case flips open like a CD jewel case or cassette case. Material: polypropylene (PP) is frosted and flexible (feels like a thicker version of the plastic milk carton material), while polystyrene (PS) is a crystal-clear plastic like youll find on a CD jewel case or cassette. In addition to style and material, a few PS cases are 2-toned, with clear fronts and opaque (gray or white) backs, or are smoked or opaque overall (Sony ES cases are ivory, and some early Sony cases are smoky or colorful) . The polypropylene (PP) soft slipcases are great to pop in your pocket or backpack because they protect your discs and dont break; the polystyrene (PS) crystal-clear cases are great for displaying discs or for home use because they make the discs look great, but (just like cassette cases and CD jewel cases) the plastic is prone to scuffs, scratches, and cracks. Sony uses a trapezoid; Maxell uses a semicircle, or sometimes a wide rectangle; TDK uses a tombstone. Some other TDK models (for some of the Music Jack discs) have a hole in the middle of the case and a slot at the edge. None of these changes in hole shape has a big effect on usability and I only bring it up in case youre trying to put your discs in their correct cases or are trying to match all your cases.
