Real Quick, for those who dont know.... these models, ie pre 2022 are better and costlier than the newest range of Sony XW projectors. The SXRD chips are larger and achieve richer color. Since this model has the Sony Ultimate Processor for Projectors it is amongst the very best ever made. Sony decided the market for $20k-$50k projectors was too small and lowered their cost of materials and construction and it shows in the mediocre picture quality as well as the number of people who have the newest ones for sale. have you ever wondered why so many people are selling the brand new ones and a huge discount, well thats because theyre not as good soon itll catch on and people realize these are worth much more than the price Im listing it for. the reasons are quite simple to understand it has to do with the size of the SXRD LED chips thats only uses to create their incredible picture.. This Sony VPL-VW915ES features the incredibly color accurate Sony Laser Light Source using .74 chipsets, not the smaller, less color rich and less bright seeming .61 chips. Capiche?? The larger chips help to acheive preciously unobtainable Bright and Dark scenes in a projector. Notice the difference between brightness turned up and down, Its Blinding. Unlike other companies using bad math to arrive at their brightness, Sony uses a true ANSI Lumen, notably even their most expensive Laser Projector costing 40-50k is only marginally brighter. I always recommend projectors for large format applications and in darker rooms...but not because this Beast cant handle daylight, it can... but because the picture is so sharp and so rich and the colors are so deep this is ABSOLUTELY MIND BLOWING. IF YOU HAVE NO EXPERIENCE WITH SONY LASER PROJECTORS, AFTER WATCHING A FEW FILMS ON THIS you will BEGIN TO understand how and why this incredible piece of machinery originally cost 3x more than Sonys own Z-series Master TVs... indeed Sony Laser IS Sonys best product. The ONLY DIFFERENCE between this projector and the one costing $40k new, ie one level up, is their use of an ArcF glass lens giving sharper corner detail. I dont know about you, but I literally have no idea who fell for that. Also, who watches the corners of the screen? With an estimated 96% Life Left on the light source, This 915ES is a gift to whomeever takes it.. youre lucky and youre welcome. its pretty easy to tell that based on the new pricing model of their newest projectors that they do not make the new ones like the old ones this is an example of one of those situations where older is better and this happens to be the newest of the older style meaning this is really amongst the very best projectors Sony has ever created.
