Here we have a Sony TC-355 3-head open reel stereo recorder supplied with 2400ft Electronic World tape (probably rebadged Ampex 631) and take-up spool. All operating functions perform well. In good overall condition for a recorder of this age apart from the odd dent and chip or two (see pics). The playback head has been replaced with a Sony TC-377 one, and level/playback equalisation adjusted accordingly. The motor pulley belt has been replaced with a new one, and the counter belt and idler wheel tyres have been checked for serviceability and found to be in good order. The original felt feet (vertical operation) have been replaced with stick-on rubber ones (see pics). Judged purely on sound quality, this recorder matches a Sony TC-377 but is less convenient to operate. Great machine for archiving LPs and playing prerecorded stereo tapes. Points to note; L and R RCA inputs and outputs are configured horizontally and not the more usual vertical arrangement. Also, the head cover is removable but locked by two small grub screws. A copy of the owners instruction manual is also included. Will post safely and securely using ParcelForce. Will not send overseas, unfortunately.
