Here is some background so you have as much info as possible to make a good decision: I purchased this as a working unit testing it at the place of purchase prior to buying. It worked great fast forward rewind and all. Ejected the tape. I tested with 2 different tapes all was good. Purchased unit brought it home to clean and test tapes I have purchased and am ready to list. Got cleaned up plugged in and began to test tapes which will soon be listed. First tape went in played on screen no issues except a small mount of noise in the picture. Popped the tape out went on to number 2. Played the tape and tried to fast forward a bit because I have never heard of the movie I was testing. Fast forwarded and stopped to watch and got a picture and sound then all of a sudden nothing. The time on player went to the 0’s you see in the picture in listing and could get no response. So I turned it off and pulled the cover it was obvious that the tape was stuck. So I assumed a sensor or something shuts it down to make sure it doesn’t destroy itself. I have no attachment to the tape so I cut both ends of the tape and slowly pulled until all the tape was removed thinking I would be able to eject at this point and assumed it was still good it just may have been an old tape. Still nothing. So at this point I’m kind of out of my element and did some online research to see if there is a way to manually pull the tape but didn’t want to go as far as taking apart anything because I’m not that knowledgeable on inner workings of these. So I was sad for a few days and lamenting that I wasn’t going to get what I thought for this unit in this condition was worth BUT another unit I purchased that day is working so I decided to just let this one go for parts and I’m sure someone will get this going and enjoy the heck out of it. I LOVE old tech but I just don’t have the knowledge base to fix and looked in my area and couldn’t find much in the way of repair places for this sooo here we are. It is sold as is because I really don’t need someone taking it apart and sending it back to me. So this is sold as is no returns with the story. I know it is just that a story but if you look at my history I’m an honest seller who loves vintage things and enjoys finding and flipping them. Is this unit for you? I don’t know but if you enjoy fixing stuff and know these units I have no doubt this unit will be someone’s dream machine. In the original box with most of the original foam (missing one piece). Will be shipped with care and the original box will be placed in another box or protected and nothing will be stuck to it.
