The MDS-JE520 succeeds the enormously successful MDS-JE510 with several improvements. The disc transport mechanism has been improved to provide better reliability. Additional inputs and outputs also increase the flexibility of the deck. This particular unit (S/N 8823020) is in excellent condition. Load and eject work smoothly and the display is bright and clear. The front panel is nearly scratch free and all controls work smoothly. Ive tested playback and the unit spins up fast and identifies the TOC quickly. It sounds terrific!! Its clean and appears to be lightly used. Im a huge minidisc fan and love the format and the ability to make mix tapes or make digital copies of vinyl, cassette, or other inputs. It is a remarkable technology developed over a decade by Sony to replace cassette tapes. Sadly, the timing for Sony was wrong and it was killed in the market by ipods and phones. However, minidisc is experiencing a major renaissance as people who love to own their hardware and physical media are celebrating the format. These units are getting harder and harder to find. MANUAL INCLUDED. NO REMOTE. INCLUDES SIMON & GARFUNKLE MINIDISC. I did not test recording but the unit appears to have been barely used and I expect it to work correctly.
