NO RESERVE AUCTION - Sonic Frontiers Line 2 tube preamp This was a Stereophile recommended component back in the late Nineties and is one of our all time favorite tube preamp. Stacked with six 6922 tubes inside, it was every tube rollers delight. Just swapping out the tubes can bring you to another level of gratification. This unit was kept in storage for more than 15 years and only recently saw the light of the day after it was taken out from its box. It powers up fine and all the controls seem to work and communicated with the puck remote well. But we could not get any sound out of it. Previous owner didnt want to fork out the dough to have it checked out so it is being SOLD AS-IS FOR PARTS OR REPAIR. If you disagree with the T&C, pls do not bid. Unit looks good for its age with the usual minor scuff marks common with use. The umbilical cord has some frailing of the nylon sheath towards the end of the cable/plug but its cosmetic and has no impact on operation of the unit. Top casing cover came from the DAC 3 because the previous owner mistakenly swapped them when he sold the DAC 3. But casing fits fine except the vent is in the wrong position and two of the side screw holes cannot be screwed in. Unit will be securely packed for safe shipping.

This unit has very low hours and is near flawless. It has only been used for 9 months in a dedicated audio room (pet and smoke free) since the original purchase date. I had to relocate for work and did not have the space for an audio room. I kept it in the closet hoping to one day have another audio room. I have since transitioned to in-wall speakers and don’t need the power the A5 delivers. I am also selling a pair of flawless A2 amps. This amp drove my center and surrounds while I bi-amped my mains on a pair of A2s. Recently tested running as new.
