Please Read: Celestion SL6 Si speakers with consecutive serial numbers 409746, 409747. One subwoofer has been replaced with a sub from an SL600. There is a slight difference in the outer edge of the woofer, the si having a ridge and the 600 no ridge. I tested both speakers and cant tell the difference. They sounded excellent together. I decided to sell them as repaired and as-is rather than purchasing a new sub. Both tweeters are in good shape. The front screens are free from rips or tears. The boxes do have a few corner chips, they could be stained to hide them somewhat. These come with the original factory documents and graphs, but know that one of the graphs may be invalid due to the speaker substitution. The original cardboard box is not in the greatest shape, peeling on the bottom edge from moisture, but still works. Shipping through UPS. Selling a pair of British Celestion SL-600 aerolam cabinet bookshelf speakers. Having owned many (and multiple times) of the SL series (SL-6, SL-6si, SL-600, SL-700) and descendants (100s, 300s) and enjoyed them thoroughly, I have decided to sell my SL-600. Not much to say about how the sound as you would have already known. The SL-600 features the copper tweeter, the SL-700 uses the aluminum tweeter. There has been a lot of debate which sounds better but I believe its a matter of preference. There are some light crinkles on the tweeters but they work fine and the Cobex drivers are in excellent condition. The enclosures shows some battle scars (refer to pics). I have not tried to fix the damage on the edge for fear of making it worse but I am sure someone who is skilled in metal work can remedy it, I just do not want to take the risk and make it worse. I love the SL-600s and I had to convince myself that I do not need 3 pairs of Celestions in my current collection, not having as much time to spend in my listening hobby. I have decided to keep my SL-700 since I have the matching stands for the SL-700s; they both sound excellent. The SL-series have a strong following for good reason. Although the bass (its a bookshelf afterall) does not really dig very deep, when properly position, they are tuneful and not one-note. Of course if you love deep bass, a subwoofer (or two), would augment the LF beautifully. The Nextel paintwork is in decent shape. Comes from a smoke free home.

Original subwoofer for Celestion SL600 8 ohm 120 watt made in England. The Kobex cone has a crack from top to bottom caused by mishandling the speaker at one time. If you have use or the ability to have it repaired this may work for you. As-is. From a smoke and pet free environment.

I’ve had these in storage for a long time, waiting to find a replacement woofer. But, they sat on a shelf waiting and waiting. They also needed some cabinet work, and I finally gave up. I decided to part them out so someone rise can save their pair. You can see the drivers both measure close to each other. Both have some minor surface rust/patina on the mounting screws. One has a tiny bit of a ripple in the corner of the metal diaphragm. It’s subtle, and most likely a manufacturing anomaly, but it’s there… so, keep in mind that one dome looks perfect and one dome doesn’t. Both sound fine and measure fine.

Aerolam Celestion SL600 Speaker Cabinets with front grills bass and tweeter mount plates, crossovers, and inner foam. These were in pretty bad condition, over half of the corners were smashed or dented. These were working speakers but looked so bad I started to sell off the components rather than selling the complete speaker. I sold the tweeters and bass units before deciding to recondition, thinking these were not repairable, now I wish I hadnt sold them. My background is in metal fabrication, so I decided repair the corners. I carefully cut out the damaged outer aluminum skin material, then straightened the bent pieces, and reattached them using epoxy and polyurethane glue similar to what was used to put the boxes together at the factory. I used the least amount of glue possible not to change the performance of the box as engineered. I refinished the imperfections in the corners with high strength body filler and sanded them to a thin semi-smooth finish. I left a few minor, very tough to see imperfections in the boxes to keep the aged look. The outer coating from the factory was a fairly heavy splatter type finish in really bad shape, they used some type of rubberized coating (maybe to hide the imperfections and enhance sound transfer). The coating was flaking off and breaking down, so I removed it all. My goal was to retain the original factory look, which the coating was modeled and imperfect for sure. To start, I sprayed several coats of flat black enamel base. To finish, I sprayed two extremely light modeling coats of the exterior grade spar urethane satin finish. I didnt sand between coats to achieve the rough look of the original coating. The front SL600 ID plates were removed for refinishing as well the back jack stickers. The id plates are in good shape and include new double sided sticker tape. The back stickers, only one is in good shape, the other has been damaged. Youll need to glue these on if you choose. Included is the original tweeter seal dampening material. I provided some pictures of the damage and repair steps. Let me know if you need more pictures, I do have several. Original Celestion SL700 Lautsprecher-Klassiker mit diversen Unterlagen (Messprotokoll, Prospekt, Anleitung, Kaufrechnung von 1992). Die original Bi-Wire-Brücken sind ebenfalls dabei. Die Lautsprecher sind für das Alter in einem guten bis sehr guten Zustand. Die Nextel-Beschichtung zeigt die typischen Spuren, aber sie sieht grundsätzlich gut aus. Ein Hochtöner hat eine Mini Delle (letztes Bild; durch Kinderhand). Die SL700 befinden sich im Originalzustand. Verkauf/Versand ohne Ständer. Bei persönlicher Abholung können die original Ständer für €300,- dazu erworben werden. Die Stands sind aktuell befüllt und dementsprechend schwer. Classic British Audiophile Bookshelf Speakers from the early 90s. Cabinets are in good cosmetic condition outside of the rear mounting holes pictured. Bottom left corner of one grille is slightly worn. They sound great. Price is firm at $380 for the pair plus shipping. Since this is vintage gear, there is no warranty, and the only way a return will be taken is if either or both speakers are somehow DOA.
