The Pioneer model H-R99 Stereo 8 Track Player Recorder is a vintage audio gem that still produces excellent sound despite needing some work. The unit turns on and plays, but there is no sound coming from the right channel. There is just a very weak signal with mostly noise coming from right speaker. The headphone also plays one side of stereo channel. I have not tested the recording feature as I dont have the equipment to test it. Cosmetically, it is in good cosmetic condition except for some rust on the top as shown in pictures. The face is nice, as well as the wooden side panels. Vintage Pioneer H-R99 8-Track Player / Recorder. This unit lights up and works. It was an estate purchase. I have tested several tapes and they all play, none eat tape. I have been able to find two things mechanically wrong with this unit: 1) the tape counter needs a new belt. The belt is old and stretched. 2) The Program Selector doesnt always select the next program. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesnt. I am selling this unit as parts because of the two problems above. Please ask questions, please check out the photos. The top cover is rough. Some veneer is missing on the front left and right wood.
