800x600 Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 With a Beautiful Pioneer 290T Induced Magnet [IM] Cartridge Serial Number: FG13893 S Heres a beautiful vintage PIONEER PL-221Z turntable. The unit has always been in a non-smoking environment and it plays superbly. This classic and very desirable mid to mid-high end audiophile turntable is in good operating condition. The unit is cosmetically outstanding with the only faults being a small scratches/marks on the dustcover that are consistent with a 30+ year old Hi Fi component, but you must look close to see them. The tonearm is in outstanding unmarked condition, and the plinth is in great condition. This table has been cleaned, re-lubed and/or re-greased where necessary, and adjusted. The platter drive belt is in excellent condition. The turntable has been fully detailed! But, regardless how good the turntable, you still need a quality phono cartridge to extract and deliver the high quality sound form the vinyl. This is an area of neglect for most. A turntable regardless of its price will only sound as good as its cartridge. So, this unit has been matched with an excellent Pioneer 290T Induced Magnet phono cartridge. Also comes with an 10 page copy of the owner’s manual, new 45 record adapter, phono cables, Stylus/needle guard protector, ground cord, and power cord/power supply. ***NOTE*** Once the turntable is sold the Pioneer 290T cartridge will be professionally checked making all necessary adjustments such as: Tracking Weight, Arm Height, Alignment, Azimuth, Anti-Skate. TURNTABLE DESCRIPTION: DC Servo - Controlled Motor – The motor in the PL-221Z turntable combines high elements with a FG (frequency generator) servo-controlled DC motor with IC. The high elements, production engineered by Pioneer, are used to switch the polarity in the motor. Since purely electronic communication is used for switching the motor drive circuit, harmful noise is not generated, and smooth, even rotation can be obtained with high durability. By combining precision characteristics, a Signal-to-Noise Ratio at 68dB, and 0.06% wow and flutter have been allowed The Highly Sensitive Straight Shaped Tonearm – Highly sensitive angular contact bearings are used for both vertical and horizontal-axis movement of the tonearm, so that there is minimum play and friction. High sensitivity and durability are obtained. An independent tonearm lift device is incorporated in the fully-automatic mechanism, the stylus can be raised easily even during playing without damage to the stylus or record. Panel Layout Facilitates Easy Operation – This layout places the function controls [speed selector, tonearm down/up lever, record size, start/stop selector] at the front of the unit, concentrating controls for easy operation. The dust cover also uses free-stop hinges. Cabinet Design for Sound Quality – The operating mechanisms are all mounted in the solidly built cabinet, while the platter and tonearm are kept floating above the cabinet by the floating suspension, contributing to the improvement of the tone quality. External vibrations are doubly damped by the insulators to obtain a very high resistance against acoustic feedback [“howling”]. CARTRIDGE DESCRIPTION: Pioneer 290T is another of Pioneer’s series featuring the dual moving magnet system. Medium priced, it incorporates state of the art cartridge technologies; including a magnetic circuit with centre shield, low mass dual magnet stylus assembly using alinco magnets etc. It offers unprecedented flat frequency response and outstanding sound clarity and definition. The body is made from a rigid high-density structure, which ensures that the superior basic performance remains unaffected by harmful resonance. The 290T integrates the range of the sonic bandwidth very well: no part of the spectrum sticks out at the listener. It doesn’t sound bright and it doesn’t sound dull at the top frequencies. Mid-range is clear and detailed with no spittiness on vocals. The 290T Phono cartridge is a wonderful representation of one of Pioneer’s cartridges. The cartridge is best known for its excellent musicality. It is a warm & mellow sounding cartridge – very dynamic – separation is most excellent - nice tight natural sounding bass [not boomy at all] – Highs are very crisp yet never sounding metallic or artificial. The sound stage is really where this cartridge shines. While listening with one’s eyes closed, you actually hear not only stereo but a distinct three dimensional sound stage where the musicians and singers are positioned as in a concert. The cartridge is absolutely a fantastic cartridge with outstanding value, high technology, and reasonable price. The Pioneer 290T Phono cartridge uses a highly polished special conical stylus to very accurately extract record groove information with a minimum of wear. Pioneer uses a thin-wall aluminum tube cantilever (the hollow rod that extends from the cartridge to the diamond tip), for low mass and low resonance. Lastly, the 290T Phono cartridge reproduces a wide, extended frequency response with low distortion. It also offers excellent tracking at 1.0 to 1.5 grams, saving your LPs from undue wear.
