Bought this to replace a TX-NR1000. The TX-NR1000 became too sophisticated for me and I was tired of trying to make up for it only having HDMI-1. Still convinced Onkyo was the only name in consumer audio, I found this here on eBay for a reasonable price. The item arrived in a flimsy box. It looked like the seller wrapped it in tissue paper for padding. I was really disappointed. One of the feet had been bent, otherwise seemed in decent shape given the horrible shipping. Got it working but as I remember, the television audio would flash out. Best way I can describe it. Would work perfectly then momentarily mute then return to normal. I dont remember it having any problem with the video signal, just the audio. Never hooked it up to a Blu-ray, radio or anything else. Contacted the seller, he refunded and filed a claim with the carrier. Almost seemed like the thing had problems to begin with, seller listed so that he could ship it without any effort to protect it then file a claim with the carrier after I filed the claim with him. Seemed unethical. But it could be that I just didnt hook it up right or something. Could be that its a simple fix if its actually broken. Could be that this thing is nothing more than a door stop. I ultimately went with Kenwood. It was a reconditioned model that had a warranty and pay over time. That thing isnt as powerful but it was simple, I just plugged and played! Hopefully someone can utilize this. The remote is worth what Im asking? Im glad Onkyo is over. Bought that TX-NR1000 (also selling right now on eBay) as it was supposed to be the last receiver anyone would have to buy. When technologies improved, you were supposed to only have to buy a module to transition. Never happened and the thing was outdated before they unloaded it off the boat. Spent $3500 on it.
