Offered for your consideration is one (1) Miller & Kreisel two-way, three-driver crossover network removed from an M&K S-125C center channel speaker, USA- manufactured c.1996. This M&K crossover divided two 5¼” Peerless mid/bass woofers (8? nominal each) from a 25mm Peerless dome tweeter (4?) at 2kHz. So, please see my large photos, the measurements, and read the remaining description to decide if this outstanding M&K crossover network is correct for your needs. This M&K S-125C crossover is in clean, excellent condition. It features a complement of capacitors, heavily wound copper inductors, and resistors. Plus, the black plastic terminal plate is in great shape with no cracks or scratches and the sturdy binding posts hold speaker cable firmly and can also take banana plugs, pins, etc. And, I’ve bound the woofer and tweeter wires neatly in pairs for the new owner’s convenience upon delivery. Overall, this M&K center channel crossover is exceptionally well-preserved. Most importantly, this S-125C crossover was fully tested before cabinet disassembly and is ready for action. Lastly, the terminal plate measures 7” x 5?” and extends about 2¾” into the cabinet. It requires a 6” x 4” cutout if considering for a speaker-building project. M&K had contracted Denmark’s esteemed Peerless to manufacture this high-quality mid/bass driver. This mid/bass driver is identical to the ones used in the S-125 speakers, aside from the magnetic shielding, and quite possibly the S-85/S-85C single woofer models, but buyer is responsible for verifying its compatibility with their needs. Most importantly, I’ve tested it fully and it sounds great—strong and clear with fast, detailed midrange and solid low-end for the platform size. When I emailed Ken Kreisel to ask if inverting the lower mid-woofers on the S-125 would yield the sonic benefits of the S1C he replied, YES! Capitals and exclamation point his. All M&K MX subwoofers use this push-pull configuration to cancel even-order harmonics. The S1C is the only M&K satellite to employ this technology from the factory. These S-125s use the factory wiring routed through the grill peg holes, sealed with flexible black mastic to keep the satellite air tight. The polarity of the inverted drivers is reversed so both drivers fire mechanically in-phase while electrically out-of-phase. This modification is completely reversible. If you do this, it is critical to replug the holes in the grill peg sockets. Two grills are included. One has two flaws shown in the last picture. The S-125 was designed while M&K was in transition from hi-fi to HT. The High Efficiency connection has a brighter midrange timbre more like THX speakers. The Normal connection employs M&Ks Q-curve which is more pleasing to our ears when listening to music. I have three pairs of S-125s and one center channel S-125C, all of which I will be listing. After collecting this wonderful equipment for more than 25 years, I am thinning the hoard. My old ears are no longer high fidelity. These speakers function correctly. The pictures show their exceptionally clean condition. Full disclosure: the foam strips on the tweeter baffle are original, old and fragile, and may not survive packing and shipping. Ive simply removed others that have disintegrated. GooGone is an excellent adhesive remover and does not harm the black lacquer bead finish. These speakers are heavy and will require substantial packaging and cushioning. They will arrive at your door exactly as pictured. Packing is not rocket science. Here is a set of the M&K Sound (Miller & Kreisel) S-150T THX Ultra2 Tripole Loudspeakers with original box and all accessories. Seller Description Both these home cinema surround speakers are in excellent condition and were used for a short period only. All front and side (audience viewable) surfaces are in mint-like condition. The screw holes on the rear have been used for previous mounting and there are a couple of cosmetic scratches on the rear where the speakers slid into its wall-mount brackets (see pictures). This set of S-150Ts are the second generation or MkII from the 2010s, as distinct from the SS150s from the late 1990s. The speakers are three-way and include a forward-facing 5.25-inch mid-driver and one 1-inch dome tweeter, and two 3.25-inch side-facing drivers. The THX-Certified M&K Tripole deisgn surround loudspeakers are as relevant today with 3D audio as they were during the 5.1-only era. Placed to the sides of the listener in a home cinema, the speakers create the impression of an array of sidewall speakers in a professional cinema. They can also deflect attention away from themselves (as they are usually the closest speakers to the audience), by channelling some of the high-frequency information towards the front and rear walls of the room. This forms a key part of Lucasfilm Ltd.s original THX loudspeaker specification for home cinema. But this dispersion of audio is just as applicable for todays immersive audio systems, such as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. These speakers are still used today in mixing and monitoring dubbing suites in Hollywood and around the world. Lucasfilm Ltd. famously used them during production dailies and in post-production for Star Wars: Episodes I - III, as did Peter Jackson for the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
