I purchased this just over 1 yr ago from an authorized McIntosh dealer. (Invoice available for review.) It is otherwise in like-new condition except for about 200 hrs. on the factory-installed Sumiko Blue Point No. 2. Since it is so new and has so few hours, it works like the day I got it home and took it out of the box. The turntable was not moved since being unpacked and placed on media rack, until taking pictures and packing it up for you. ALL factory packaging included. (Note pics and check out youtube unboxing videos to see that everything is here.) I don't want to ship this across the country, so I'd prefer to do local pickup, I deliver, or we meet somewhere. I can meet or deliver in Los Angeles/SoCal area, or we can arrange to meet somewhere if you are as far away as the Bay Area. I have family in the Bay Area and can make a trip out of it, if need be. If you insist on shipping it, I can do UPS or FedEx freight at your expense, including insurance for full amount. Please communicate with me before bidding/purchasing and we can arrange something. Also included is a custom cover that cost almost $300. For some reason, the cover McIntosh includes with this is not designed to cover the entire table. Description : The McIntosh MA6200 was first released in 1978 and discontinued in 1991. By gathering the available technology that McIntosh had used, the MA6200 was developed. The amplifier uses a special-NetWare-program equalizer which makes five independent bands. It has two tapes circuitries in which mutual dubbing is also possible, a pre-mains separation termination, a succession good transformation loudness Compensation, etc. are carried. The McIntosh still has its original power guarding system, which suppresses clipping distortion automatically, and the speaker is protected from an emergency outage. An optional Panloc wooden case to cover the amplifier can be purchased during that time. That wooden case may come in Walnut or Glass black finishing. Though the McIntosh 6200 is a solid state amplifier, it has a wonderfully balanced and warmish sound that lets the music shine through. There is a real sense of effortlessness and transparency as well as dynamism. The ambience the sound produced makes the user feel like he is listening to music rather than just listening to music played through an amp, which is a good thing. The bass sounds fuller and midrange is more sweet, liquid and musical. The superb lush, warm and easy to listen to sound is true to its McIntosh signature sound characteristic. Overall the MA6200 is well made in the Binghamton tradition. The MT2 comes with a moving coil cartridge that has a high enough output to make it compatible with not only moving coil phono inputs but also moving magnet inputs. The cartridge’s high impedance and high output voltage ensures noise free musical reproduction. This unique cartridge design features an alloy cantilever and an elliptical diamond stylus with exceptional tracking capability. The tonearm is constructed from dural-aluminum with special damping materials and is light weight yet highly rigid. The noise free vertical bearings feature two precision ceramic surfaces with damping fluid; the horizontal bearing is a gimballed sapphire design. The belt driven, solid black outer platter is made from a special dynamically balanced polyoxymethylene (POM) and is over 1” thick. This heftiness helps to both resist and absorb external vibrations that can cause noise during playback; its large mass also provides the perfect flywheel action for stable playback speed. The inner platter is made of CNC-precision milled aluminum. The platters rotate on a polished and tempered steel shaft in a sintered bronze bushing. The DC motor is driven by an external voltage-stabilized power supply and is completely decoupled from the chassis, isolating your records from any mechanical interference. Its sturdy plinth has a resonance optimized and highly compressed wood base with black lacquer finish, while the top and middle acrylic plates help absorb unwanted vibrations.
