The sound is clean and precise, but at the same time musical and smooth. It clearly outperformed all competing solid state offerings at that time. When the item was put up for sale, we asked the audio specialty store to inspect it again and found the same problem as before.?The left-side LINE module was reported to be short-circuited as before. There are 5 modules in total Power module: 1 module normal2 LINE modules, right side module normal??????????(Left side joule short)PHONO module: 2 modules normal (both modules shorted) Test: For reference, the operation was tested as follows. The test was performed with the defective left-side LINE module (short) disconnected. Mark Levinson No.28 Preamp And Matching PLS-228 Power Supply. Excellent preamp including power supply. 2 sets of CAMAC/RCA connections. However I use XLR cables for pre to power, Pre to DAC. XLR CD transport to DAC and SPDIF to DAC. Then RCA / CAMAC to Phono stage from Turntable. This covers all bases for me. It's an incredible amp a few years old now but competes with some of the best at it's level and above . Have a look on line for reviews/ specs etc. I have had to spend multiple thousands of pounds to come anywhere near replacing this amp. Downside no remote available. Thanks for looking.
