VTG LAFAYETTE SUPER NICE 6 CHANNEL POWERFUL STEREO RECEIVER LR-5555 SUPER CLEAN, TESTED. Made in Japan. PLEASE READ LISTING IN ITS ENTIRETY. Features phono input, a real nice feature is it can handle 4 ohm speakers. Has nice R&L simulated wood sides. Appears gently used for I barely see user marks to my eyes. I see a little light dust behind the display window. Please the many pictures see how nice this Lafayette really is. Please note I did pick up some reflections in some of the pictures, mostly on the display these are not imperfections. Please note: This belonged to my mothers husband who passed, a collector of electronics and speakers and this will be one of many items of his collection we will be selling. I will do my best to describe this Lafayette was tested without an owners manual, and please note I am not an expert. On the front- it has a beautiful aluminum front plate and it appears all display lights are working as they should including the stereo indicator light. All knobs and push buttons, levers, headphone jack also working as should and do their intended job, the tuner knob moves smoothly and correctly. All lettering in place and I see no signs of failure. On the back- All 6 A/B/C channels work as well as AM antenna and FM inputs. All RCAs working as well as the phono and sensitivity mag as well as the A/C outlets, tape RCAs not tested, dont know how. It has a good clean power cord. If there is something I missed again I am not an expert. I used this for a month plus with no issues. Hows it sound? This Lafayette is amazing with all the options, features you can use on playback to tailor to your liking. Using a VTG Sony high end record player, vtg Onkyo CD player and vtg Yamaha 3 way NS speakers, and a variety of material all I can say is WOW! It has sweet highs, clean midrange, and punchy low end. This is a powerful receiver, built like a tank and super heavy, mostly on the side where the amp is. Hopefully youll be WOWED, too! The FM/AM sounds very nice, also. The power switch, when turned to the on position does not illuminate any lights. There is a distinct hum, when the power is turned on, when my ear is pressed against the unit. This Lafayette HE-48 External Speaker is in nice condition - clean inside and out. No evidence of tobacco smoke residue. Measures 8 Ohms DC. There are a few spots where the paint has rubbed off near the base, but otherwise it is fine - no dents, etc. Examine the photos and judge for yourself. I test all speakers using a 600 Ohm sine wave Audio Generator and a Mil-Spec matching transformer, sweeping the frequency over the normal communication range of 300 to 3000 Hz. This early 1970s unit does power up with the cord and does receive a couple of AM/FM stations. I have no knowledge about the other 4 bands, so I cannot say whether they work. This is either a restoration project or a parts only situation, depending on the buyer. The Lafayette Guardian is a simple multiband receiver covering longwaves up to the maritime communications shortwave band and VHF and VHF ranges. On top of the case is the rotating ferrite antenna, which can be used as a rudimentary direction finder to detect sources of RF interference. On the front left side panel is the speaker grill (speaker works) with the small red button for the dial illumination (which works when button is held in) and the headphone connectors. To the right, the vertically arranged frequency window. At the bottom of the front panel is the signal strength meter and Manual AGC/Radio control (they work). The front right half on the unit is in the best shape. The controls on the right side of the unit (all work) from top to bottom - the tuning knob, band selector (has a small window, the band range is signaled with the same color as the corresponding dial), the ON/volume control and finally the ON/squelch control (knob missing). Here is the list of issues - telescoping antenna is broke/missing out of unit, the battery holding area and cover are completely gone, plus numerous scratches and openings at the top of both sides damaged. Vintage Lafayette HA-230 Receiver

Lafayette LR-1500TA vintage stereo receiver. Power on . No sound

This is a vintage Lafayette HA-52A FM Communications Receiver, circa 1960s. This is a 8-tube radio which covers the FM frequencies 152-174Mhz. Has an integrated speaker, headphone jack for 8 ohms, and screw terminals for antenna on rear. As far as I can tell it is all original. Manuals are still freely available online, including schematics and alignment procedure. As an experiment, I temporarily adjusted the two variable cap trimmers so that I could listen to my local 2M weekly net at 146.85. It has now been returned to its original alignment, but of course you could play with the alignment yourself if you want. This unit appears to work well. There isnt much in my area for it to receive, but I can receive the NOAA weather station for my area clearly at 162.475 with just my finger on the antenna terminal. There is no appreciable power supply hum, and everything seems to work as intended. Pretty good condition cosmetically as well (even the feet), though as you can see in the photo there are a few rust-looking stains on the side and elsewhere.
