Wow... this piece really takes me back!A wonderful example of a reference pre/amp processor from Krell and our first step (along with Proceed) into the High End world of Audio/Video around 1991/92 ~ As a founding member of CEDIA (Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association) I was introduced to this piece and Dan DAgostino in the early 90s~ Dan was the founder of Krell and one of the very first companies to see the future of high performance multi-channel sound. The Home Theatre Standard literally set the standard by which all other pieces were compared. The sound and build quality were second to none and the fit and finish were exemplary. Only later, did Mark Levinson and Madrigal Labs with the Proceed line seem to get close. This piece has a special place in my A/V memory... It was sold to a great client of ours, who used it for years until trading up to McIntosh.It had been sitting in the dark for sometime, when I finally got around to testing it.Obviously, as a processor, it is completely antiquated. However, as a two-channel pre-amp with the ability to decode a 5.1 mix, it is superb!I have listened to it for hours and its soundstage, image and depth are beyond amazing for its age.The noise floor is beyond belief and rivals some of our best gear. The internals seem to be excellent; even the caps show no signs of stress! The Home Theater Standard listed for $10,000 (as I recall) which was an absolute fortune 25 years ago! At the time, it was far and away the most expensive piece of equipment we sold. The remote feels like a solid billet of aluminum (it is!) and works perfectly.All the lights work; the switches, the display is as bright as it was when new.Its the best example of an iconic piece of gear I think Ive seen in years... This is a Krell HTS 7.1 Home Theater Standard 7.1 Channel Preamplifier in very good cosmetic condition and works without problems. Currently it has version 3 software. This is the acclaimed 7.1 channel preamp for OPPO 150. And it really is according to my experience. I have Classe amps and the Celestion’s legendary SL700. This amp provide ultra transparencies and full sound strength for my system for both music and HT uses. I tried this with my famous Classe integrated CAP 151. It obviously outperformed the preamp section of CAP 151. Looking to upgrade to Krell processors with newer digital formats. I still have the original box and the original remote for it. However, after moving, many other inserts had lost. I will provide a print-out of the user manual too. Also, to fit my narrow audio stand with an OPPO player on the top, I took off the 4 rubber feet long time ago and has misplaced them since then. The body is still in excellent condition. Got just a minor scratch mark on the side panel. Overall it still look very nice. I cannot guarantee that it sounds like new because I don’t have a new one to compare. However, guarantee it sounds remarkable(better than my Classe CAP 151!) This is a 25+ lb package and the shipping would be steep. But I tried not to charge outrageous shipping fees.
