This amplifier, from the middle of last century sparked, fired and field the imaginations of a generation of musicians. It is the sound, the tool that would generate country, folk, pop, rockabilly and classic music through its simple tube and single speaker configuration. This little guy is not perfect...and maybe the next owner wouldnt want it to be. Thats our call. It has scuffs and scars and half a dozen cigarette scars, inflicted before they were cool. It is over 75 years old. We all should weather so well. The VOLUME-On/Off switch and TONE control work great and are smooth. The middle attenuator (Mic) is very stiff and we decided not to force it. It has SURPRISINGLY LOW hum when sitting idle. Has a very nice crunch to it depending on it and your guitar settings. Lots of cosmetic patina/wear. The handle is original but looks like it was recently bolstered with some gaffer tape...no we didnt do it, little too magenta for our liking, but the repair is sturdy. There is a slight buzz to the speaker. Uncertain what it is. May need a ring or cone replacement before long (regular maintenance). Eventually or maybe even immediately it might serve to have the speaker replaced altogether. This is not an expensive fix and the options/choices of replacing the speaker are wonderful in and of itself. There are two schools of thought with these old gems. 1) Full restore, 2) Leave well enough alone. We will let the next owner decide...but what is certain...as currently constituted with original tubes and original caps...this baby could be studio used as currently constituted. Mic it up, smile, make your contemporaries jealous and dont forget to include it in the liner notes. We would prefer a local pick-up who could demo it before walking away with their new treasure. A lot easier on us to do a hand-off, but we will ship. When we prep for shipping we will take great pains to ensure it arrives safely. Handling and shipping will be $95. We think that is a reasonable price since most of it will be absorbed by the carrier.
