This amp has always been in a pet-free and smoke-free environment. What many people dont know about ADCOM amps in general, is that their power ratings tend to be very conservative. The gfa-5300 for example, is rated at 80 watts per Channel, but my electronics tech, rated it at 125 watts per Channel, at 8 ohms and 175 watts per Channel at 4 Ohms, thats RMS, not peak output! The other advantage this amp has, in comparison to many of its bigger brothers, is that it is MOSFET circuitry, it actually has a cleaner less distorted sound, basically meaning its a better sounding amp. The problem I had with the amp, about a year and a half ago, was the power switch failed. So when I took it into my electronics tech to have it fixed, he asked me if I just wanted him to replace all the capacitors or anything else it might be needing while he was at it, the price was reasonable, and I said fine, but what wasnt reasonable was the price to replace the power switch, he told me they wanted a ridiculous amount of money for an NOS ADCOM power switch, and I should just replace it with a quality American-made toggle switch, which is what was done. This amp doesnt have any issues, and you should easily get 10 or more years out of it, so I feel the price is more than fair.
