Audio Research SP-11 mk2 Im the second owner of this amp and must have had it about 20 years. For whatever reason, its been very little used throughout its life and it shows. It is in excellent condition. It was serviced by Dave Hunter in Nottinghamshire - who is an extremely qualified electrical engineer, and is a specialist in valve amps - both audio and guitar, and has all the ARC data. The report has been attached. I sent it for a general service as there was an issue with the mute/soft start circuit. All it needed was one low voltage capacitor changed. All the other capacitors are in perfect condition, as are the original Sovtek valves, all 6 of them. The amp is 100% original apart from the one cap change above. Most of the audio caps are REL teflon, so have huge life spans. The electrolytics are well within spec, so Dave recommended leaving as-is. Ill package both the amp and PSU in seperate boxes, both double boxed properly, and send by Parcelforce 48, tracked and signed for. It may take a day or two to get properly packed. Please let me know if you need full insurance, as that will cost a bit extra for the peace of mind. Note that this ARC is particularly noted for its excellent phono stage. Still a contender after all these years. It also has a separate gain control as well as volume attenuation which makes it quite flexible for matching to power amp of differing sensitivity. The unit is a 240V UK model, so the power outlets designed for the American market were blanked off from new. I doubt there is a better collectable example of an SP11 out there. Audio Research ARC SP-16 Tube preamplifier W Remote. I purchased this tube preamplifier about two months ago, and it was only used for a few hours in my system. This preamplifier does have a tube phono section as well as a tube line level section. The tubes in the photo section are the stock electro harmonix 12ax7’s. I did swap the tubes in the line level section to some used NOS,RCA Tubes. Two of those tubes are 12ax7’s and one is a 5751. I would describe the sound as extremely clean and pristine. But I wouldn’t describe the sound is overly tube like. I would rate the condition at a 7/10. A few minor scratches is all. No returns and shipping to the US continental only!
