Our services also include help for families to deal effectively with their grief, and education for other professionals who are looking after people at the end of life. We sum up the benefits of what we offer as Living well; Dying well; Caring well. All of Longfields services are free and most are provided at our beautiful Wellbeing Centre in Minchinhampton. Some, including Wellbeing Workshops, Fatigue & Breathlessness and Bereavement Groups, are increasingly being offered at community venues, closer to where people live. Dad probably bought this turntable about 1967 if the number stamped underneath is a date code. It contains 67 which sounds about right. It was in our living rooms until 1986 or so. The motor still works and the belts are intact! Guess it was designed to survive anything. Remarkably, the foam in the shock mounts still appears to be good also. The oiled walnut chassis has a few minor dents but is free of scrapes or gouges. I did not test the audio: the wires from the cartridge to the terminal block underneath are enameled magnet wire (unshielded) which cant be original. They were run randomly which is exactly how Dad would have repaired it. Shouldnt there be shielded twisted pairs, at least, through the tone arm? I cut them for shipping so youll need to rewire the tone arm for sure now. I believe the Pickering cartridge to be original and I cannot believe the stylus is still good after all our (ab)use. Youll note that someone rebalanced the tone arm by gluing a penny in the cartridge holder sometime in or after 1973. ???? You can spin the platter backwards with the power off, and then turn it on to run it backwards. (Thats how I listened to the backwards message in ELOs Fire on High). I always wanted to work out the physics of why that worked: if its not spinning quite fast enough when you throw the switch it reverses to the correct clockwise direction. This turntable runs at both 33 & 45 RPM: you move the belt on the pulley underneath the platter to select speeds. The tone arm holder also remarkably survived although as you can see in the photos it has been repaired.NO plastic cover is included: it broke in the 70s as I recall.Theres also a pretty good layer of dust caked on this turntable now; there was an AR logo on the front which also fell off at some point.The bottom cover is intact but missing three its screws.Im including a foam record mat which is also NOT original. Acoustic Research Teledyne Speakers Model 19B Need Refoaming - Cabinets Superb. Cabinets and grilles are near perfect. The tweeters sound amazing.
