A Brand New Amplifier. Another kitbuild amplifier I am offering using a matched pair of single ended Linlai 300b output triodes. I have now built a number of these amplifiers, and they have proved to be excellent. 6h8c (6sn7 type) driver valves. Their load lines show that these valves are extremely linear, and a 5u4c rectifier valve feeds the C-L-C type power supply. The circuit is of a standard classic cascade design, giving over 8 watts of continuous valve power. No printed circuit boards, all hard wired by hand. No Feedback The mains transformer has been factory modified for use on 230 volts ac (normally 220v), and is correct for use in the UK. There is no mechanical noise or buzzes. The 300b heaters are fed by dc with user adjustable hum bucker pots, so negligible hum. 4 and 8 ohm gold plated speaker outlets. Gold plated phono inputs. Good components used throughout, with polypropylene coupling capacitors. Brushed stainless steel case with varnished wood ends. Kettle type mains lead fitted with a British plug. Fused mains input socket. Stainless steel latching push button on off switch. The amplifier is loud enough for any domestic situation, but may be used with a preamp if desired. FREE POST to uk only. Thoughts and the emotional impact of music in the home … If one were to visit the North Carolina mountains and take some photographs of the breathtaking views of the mountains or another example, visit Niagara Falls and photograph the natural wonder and astounding power of the falls …. then have these photos blown up and framed above your fireplace in the home. …… The emotional impact will be there to be viewed over and over again …. BUT …. you will never recreate the original scene (score) in your home. I like to equate this scenario to Hi Fi audio in your home … no matter how much power you slam and jam to a pair of speakers in your listening room you will never recreate the original score!!!!! Given this truism ….. my opinion of home audio is to recreate the emotional impact of the original performance. Not some ear bleeding, window rattling, impress your neighbors music system. A system that folks will tire of in a mater of weeks. This is true … if you are in to hi fi to impress how loud you can play … just give it a few weeks and you will lose interest in the slap and smack the ear system. In over 65 years of building and experimenting with hundreds (maybe thousands) of various audio amplifiers and speakers … I find the absolute best conveyer of the musical, emotional impact is through low powered, elegant single-ended vacuum tube class A amplification. Revel in the profound intense emotional response to music played at a level that allows the listener to concentrate on the performers and score rather than think about how loud one can turn it up!!!!! Did I just hear the amp clip on the kettle drum!!!! …. listen to the music not the amp and speakers. Keep in mind … if one were to take out a fresh new 20 dollar bill in the audience of a live symphonic performance and start to crinkle the bill people state nearby would be disturbed. Anyway …. low powered single-ended class A vacuum tube amplifier along with low distortion loudspeakers is the key. Forget the SPL and revel in the musical spell!!!!!! Up for sale I have a really rare pair of Heart 300B parallel single-ended valve power amps, which will deliver 16 to 18 Watts depending on brand of valve. About 20 years old, they have just been checked over and biased by a very well known engineer and manufacturer of 300B amps as well as other valve products, condition is very good for age. They have a brand new set of Electro-Harmonix 300Bs plus one brand new spare Electro-Harmonix 300B and a relatively new set of Tung-Sol 6SN7GTB 2 per amp and Psvane 5U4G rectifier valves, that is nearly £700 worth of valves before you even start on the amps. It is stuffed inside full of Audio Note and Jensen capacitors (see pics). I can explain how to bias when the new owner collects or I deliver. The transformers and chokes on the amp are massive which is a sign of a really outstanding sounding amp and the point to point wiring is of a very high standard. The price Im asking is very fair, search eBay for 300B amps apart from the Chinese rubbish with their puny transformers the prices of 300B amps are in £1000s and I would put this amp against any of them with a few exceptions: £25K for an Audio-Note! I have a circuit diagram for the amp section, but not the power supply and a list of all the DC conditions. This is a specialist amp for some one that has experience with valve amps and truly understands the value of it. Comes with: spare Electro-Harmonix 300B, original 6sn7s which work fine, spare rectifier valve bias testing lead, circuit diagram and measured DC conditions, mains lead, 2 sturdy plastic transport boxes. Local pick-up only from SO31or I can deliver within 100 miles of Southampton or a halfway meet for the cost of my petrol. I think Ive covered everything any questions please feel free to ask.
